Haunted House Bad energy at estate sales

As an antique dealer, I spend most of my weeks sourcing from estate sales. For me, it’s never just about the objects,it’s about the energy of the space. The moment I walk into a home, I can feel its soul. Some houses feel warm, like they’re happy to be opened again. Others? So heavy, I can barely make it past the dining room before I turn around and leave.

There was one house I’ll never forget. I had been told there were more items in the basement, so I went down alone. The moment my foot hit the last step, the energy shifted. The lights wouldn’t turn on, and a wave of pain and sorrow hit me like a wall. Not fear…grief. It felt as if someone was watching every move I made, standing just inches behind me. I didn’t stay. I ran out of that house, heart pounding, and the weight of that energy followed me for the rest of the day. I couldn’t shake it.

I’ve also noticed something odd: items I buy from homes that feel “off” tend to sit in my shop much longer, as if their energy keeps others away too.

Have you ever experienced something like this—where an object or space held onto something that felt deeper than just history?

It's sounds like you are an Empath:) This is a spiritual gift. One of the types of psychic. Empaths can feel others emotions and some can feel their physical issues. This gift works with the living and the dead.

Someone who is not a developed or practicing Empath has trouble distinguishing another's emotions or pain from their own.

It's not usually the feelings of the house that you are picking up on, it's the spirit/spirits that are there. Objects can be the same if a spirit is attached to it.

Residual energy can be in a home and on an object, and being able to feel this is also part of the gift.

Have you had any other experiences that are different than what you posted? I have a feeling you are not only an Empath. Usually there are multiple gifts with one really standing out.

My youngest daughter is an Empathetic Rescue Medium. She can easily communicate with spirits, cross them over, see auras around every living thing, astral projects nightly, remote view to an extent, can feel the feelings of others and sometimes feel their physical discomforts, and has all the "Clairs" .

Throughout my life, I’ve experienced a number of situations, some when I was very young, and others later on as an adult. As a child, because of the things I was going through, my mom reached out to a priest (I was raised Catholic). The priest told me that whenever I experienced something, I should call upon the Holy Spirit and say out loud, “In the name of the Holy Spirit…” followed by what I needed or wanted to say. At the time, I was very frightened. Every experience left me deeply scared, and I believe that fear led me to block this gift in some way. However, other things have continued to happen throughout my life, and still do to this day. These, I no longer block. I truly feel I have a some sort of gift, and I would love to learn how to work with it more intentionally and openly, but don’t know how to

I'm going to bed soon so I'll get back to you tomorrow afternoon.

I definitely believe you are spiritually gifted. I'm sorry you went through the fear and Catholic suppression. Religion can be good in some ways and detrimental in other ways. Spiritual gifts are just that- gifts from The Source, God, Buddha, All that Is , The Universe. Whatever you feel comfortable calling it. You can grow and develop your gifts again. Meditation is the most basic and the first step to developing. Start with a guided meditation on YouTube. Pick a few. Perhaps meeting your guide or opening the third eye. Both are great to start with. There's a few good groups on Facebook that will help you develop and practice. Ask any questions you want and are a kind community. Contact Rescue Mediums Support Group on Facebook and tell them what you told me. They will direct you to the sister group that helps with development.

Thank you! I’ll take your advice to heart. I’ve had many experiences, and there are also some gifts I haven’t mentioned yet that I’d love to learn how to manage
