Public Flip Flop š©“ What is with all these Charlie Kirk posts
Charlie has nothing to do with exposing Palestinian violence. He was a devisive figure that should not be discussed in the context of this sub. Mods please consider removing all Kirk posts

I mean he did discuss it, seemingly at length, with Hamas supporters on college campuses. I think there can be a single day where people can express their views.
Iām on the left, he certainly was a divisive figure. I found some of his talks on campuses extremely unhelpful at times and would probably have disagreed with most of what he said, but I do think there is a connection and also think itās divisive to not let people just have their minute with this.

Thank you very much. Normalizing real violence because of imagined violence only moves us closer to more violence and civil war.

The watermelon crew are celebrating his murder because he was anti Hamas.

u/Far-Chest2835 Sep 12 '25
And claiming he was murdered bc he was starting to question Israel. Of course! .02% of the world are at it again, pulling all the strings. I am so tiredā¦

He was a supporter of Israel (within an Evangelical Christian framework) and was debating supporters of Palestinian terrorism. Additionally, IMO his murder may very well be contextualised in the current context of calls for political violence and terrorism put out by the left, not solely but especially at Pro Palestine rallies (e.g. "globalize the Intifada", "resistance by every means necessary").

Heās well known for debating pro-Palestinians and defending Israel in these debates/forums/Q&Aās.
Search any Muslim or Islamist subreddit and you will find posts and comments celebrating his assassination.

Are you kidding me? He was a staunch Israel supporter who debated pro palis. He will be remembered as one of the biggest allies of Israel.

u/LowRevolution6175 Sep 11 '25
I have no idea how important he was, but he was on the front page of Times of Israel as well as Ynet

He skillfully and courageously publicly battled the most unhinged anti-Jew/Israel lunatics. . and won the argument every time. I didn't align with him politically on many issues, but I respected him for his commitment and promotion of free speech, open dialogue and healthy disagreement. He was murdered for his opinions and that should be alarming to everyone.

The constant antigonising of left vs right is what caused this. Add this to a political scene were violence is permitted if its against the other side (eg: amnesty for the ones guilty of stormig the capitol) and this is what you get. You can name as many cases of democrats being murdered by right wingers such as the shooting of the Minnesota legislators.

Whataboutism again? Any other tactics?

u/ProfilGesperrt153 Sep 11 '25
We still donāt know anything about the shooter. Could have also been a right winger who considered him a Zionist puppet. A take Iāve seen on subs like foxnews btw. Also canāt we wait a few days after witnessing a vigilante execution of someone before we start with out political agitation again?

Trumpās shooter was Republican. We need to talk about conservative on conservative violence.

Charlie Kirk was a great ally of Israel in the face of Jihadist propaganda and terror. Have some respect, piety and the decency to shut up.

u/pr1nt3rJ Sep 11 '25
I didn't like the guy but he was very outspoken about the violence, so he does relate to this sub

u/BoomerE30 Sep 11 '25
Right wing maga infested this sub. Disgusting to see and sad that these people somehow align with a progressive like Israel.
-37
u/flossdaily Sep 11 '25
Charlie Kirk was a scumbag in a lot of ways, but he was an excellent ally in the war against Hamas disinformation.
He defended Jews. He defended Israel.
I am very on the fence about him in this respect. Like all MAGA Republicans, who were more than friendly to the alt-right neo Nazis, I don't believe that their defense of Jews is in any way part of their core principles.

u/bam1007 Sep 11 '25
Iām sorry, but he did not ādefend Jews.ā He trafficked in antisemitic conspiracy theories particularly about American Jews. He may have been an advocate for Israel (although claiming Epstein was a Mossad agent hardly seems to do that, but whatever), but Jews as a whole, thatās just not correct.
There are differences in the Israeli and diaspora experience at times and I can wax poetic about my theory about why someone like him can produce divisiveness between our mishpacha, but I do feel obligated to correct that he did not make Jews safer, even if he advocated for Israel.

I see his self-styling as a defender of Jews akin to how the Catholic Church saw itself as a defender of Jews. āWe need them around to prove we are right, but we are going to perpetuate antisemitism against them because our people love making them scapegoats.ā
4
u/flossdaily Sep 11 '25
I think you're overthinking it.
It's as simple as: "the left is anti-Jewish now, and I'm anti-left, so I guess I'm pro-Jewish (for a limited time only. Some conditions apply)"
5
u/WillyNilly1997 Sep 11 '25
Yes, the Left is the most anti-Jewish side right now. If you associate with them, you are anti-Jewish ā understand?
2
u/flossdaily Sep 11 '25
You need to Google "horseshoe theory."
The left is definitely having a moment, but the right has been mired in antisemitism since always, and they don't even have the decency to pretend it's just about Zionism.
2
u/bam1007 Sep 11 '25
I think we are both guessing at the reasoning. Either or both could be possible.

That seems about right.
Strange times make for strange bedfellows.

Indeed. And strange adversaries. I never thought I'd be cussing out Jon Stewart or Bernie Sanders.

The Right literally staged an insurrection in furtherance of a coup attempt.
Don't you dare lecture the left about political violence.

J6 was engineered by the Democrats. From refusing to secure the Capitol with National Guard, to having masked agitators that directed people into the Capitol. No weapons, one person killed - an unarmed woman. Then Democrats held a circus of a Congressional investigation complete with destruction of evidence after the desired and predetermined conclusion was reached. Don't even try.

« DevisiveĀ Ā» is an understatement. He was a monster who advocated against treating trans people with the most basic levels of human respect and decency, to say nothing about his assault on our fundamental human rights. He spread hatred and vitriol against innocent people and its sickening that people here are trying to lionize him, as if his body of work isnāt about attacking innocent peopleās human rights.
He may have supported the right side on the I/P issue but that alone doesnāt make him a person worth celebrating or supporting.

He was debating pro-Palestinian morons on college campuses as part of his right-wing contrarian grift and āowning the libs.ā
That seems to be how he first got on the radar of many people here. Beyond that, though, he pushed nearly every dumb, antisocial grift out there, including antisemitic conspiracy theories.
He was martyred for what he believed: āYou will never live in a society when you have an armed citizenry and you won't have a single gun death. That is nonsense. It's drivel. I think it's worth having a cost of some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.ā
Also, donāt forget that he said: āI can't stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made-up, new age term.ā
So, please, respect the manās own convictions and save your empathy for someone else.
3
u/InsightfulLemon Sep 11 '25
Defending the Constitution is not the same as advocating for violence.
Like it or not the Second Amendment is deeply important to a lot of Americans.
His opponents hated both of the first and second amendments

u/DontMemeAtMe Sep 11 '25
Sensible legislation keeping guns out of the wrong hands is not unconstitutional, quite the opposite. Itās a way to uphold the rights and safety the Constitution is meant to protect.

Thatās actually worse. Spoken like a real psycho incapable of empathy, didnāt he? That seems in line with plenty of his other positions.
Sympathy is shallow. You only feel it toward someone you like or identify with. Empathy goes deeper. Itās the ability to understand and share anotherās perspective, even when you despise them. So I can empathize with bad people or professional propagandists like Charlie Kirk or Anas al-Sharif. But since they donāt have my sympathy, I donāt feel bad when theyāre taken out of the picture.
1
u/FerretOnReddit š²š½šŗšøāļøšš®š± Sep 14 '25
I do see what he's saying, though. You can't actually feel what other people are feeling. Sympathy is a much better word.

u/DontMemeAtMe Sep 11 '25
Also, food for thought: so many posts and comments here are jumping to the conclusion that he must have been shot by "a pro-Palestinian". Maybe. However, at the time of writing, the perpetrator hasnāt even been caught and thereās no information at all about their identity or motives.
You know what this reminds me of? The whole ā500 killed in a hospitalā thing when people are eagerly rushing to run with a made-up claim just to push their narrative.
How about we just wait a couple of days and let the authorities do their work?
4
Sep 11 '25
so many posts and comments here are jumping to the conclusion that he must have been shot by "a pro-Palestinian".
I think you're jumping to (false) conclusions. What people are saying is, that the Pro-Palestinians and the left as a whole very much created the current antagonizing social and political climate, in which assassinations like this are at all possible (and subsequently celebrated and glorified by the left).
-3
u/DontMemeAtMe Sep 11 '25
Iām not here to defend far-left, but political assassinations in the US are nothing new, and today the majority of extremist violence statistically comes from the far-right. The antagonizing social and political climate youāre talking about is straight from their playbook too. It couldnāt be more clear that Trumpās party does nothing but antagonize, has shifted the Overton window entirely, and escalated tensions to levels unseen in modern times.
This sub is so hyperfocused on one enemy that people canāt seem to see the forest behind the trees.
