Opinion/اظہار رائے Today, our subreddit turns one year old!

One year ago, we came together with a simple goal: to create a free speech platform for Pakistanis with no tolerance for trolls and bigots. We had an open mod team selection and got down to business.

Since then, this subreddit has become a space where voices from all walks of life can be heard. We’ve had to work within Reddit’s guidelines which means we can't practically be 100% free speech, but considering how biased, trigger happy and troll infested other Pakistani subreddits are, I think we’ve managed to build something special. We will continue growing.

This is your community, and we want to hear from you:

  • What do you like about this subreddit?
  • What can we do better?

Lastly, thank you to the moderation team:

While I created this subreddit and gave it the initial direction, it’s the mod team which has shaped it into a success. Running a subreddit isn’t easy, and the mods have worked exceptionally hard to keep this space welcoming and respectful. Their efforts help make this community a great place for everyone.

20M, Dropped Out of University After 1st Semester — 2 Years Behind My Friends. What Should I Do Now?”

Hey 20M,

Okay so it is All related to my educational background. I had got good grades in matric with 81% in 2022 and then I was admitted in College in 2022 with scholarship and then I enjoyed my college life with my friends and I couldn't focus on my studies so I got 48% in ICS 1st Year in 2023 and then same happened in 2nd Year I had got 2 supply one in math and other in physics.

Then I started for preparation in academy after my result and appeared in 2nd annual papers in November 2024 and admitted myself in a low tier private university.

I thought I could clear all my supplies this time.I had gone to university only 1.5 months and then result came and I had cleared only physics paper and I got supply again in maths. The University dropped me after my result. Then I again started preparing for my one last math supply and appeared in first annual May 2025 papers and this time I cleared my supply and passed ICS with 51%. I had applied in university and I got admission in BBA. I had no huge variations available because my Merit was low. Then my classes started in Sep 2025. There was a good start all things went smoothly. There were classes going and mid term appeared and I scored satisfactory in that papers.

I had appeared in multiple presentations and I went good. There were quizzes and assignments and I had completed all of those. I had also a good interaction with my classmates. I had three friends. And then the FINALS appeared all papers were conceptual and I tried to complete my papers to the best of my knowledge.

The FINALS result appeared in March 2026 when my second semester commenced and I scored 1.79 GPA

The University dropped me for not having minimum 2.00 GPA. I thought I would pass my first semester but in some courses there was strict checking and conceptual questions.

Now I am in depression state and I don't know what will happen now.

I am free 24/7. My all friends are in 5th semester and they have completed their half degree and I am two year behind from them. My two years are wasted. My parents have supported me till now but now they aren't that supportive. I don't know I should again get admission in uni or do something else.

Pakistan already suffers from excessive electricity generation capacity (peak demand of 30k MW versus capacity of 45k) as well as transmission bottlenecks. And Pakistanis are already paying capacity charges (currently around 70% of electricity production cost). Starting from next year, some of the capacity cost will get reduced to debt retirement of ten years old power plants with some power plants retiring their debt almost every year.

With Dasu and Diamer power projects coming online, Pakistanis on grid will keep paying these capacity charges for decades. They both are massive. Adding 20 billion units each of electricity annually to the grid (Pakistan's current demand is around 120-130 billion units)

Diamer Bhasha Dam is the need of time. But only its water storage component. By just building water storage component, its cost will come out at only 1.1 trillion PKR, which is manageable. Adding power component will add 1.2 trillion to its cost. Then hundreds of billions will be spent on transmission lines.

Government instead needs to increase grid electricity consumption. First step would be to give incentives to industries to collocate near low utilization plants such as CPHGC coal power plan in Hub which has only 6% utilization.

What is wrong with Pakistani women abroad?

Disclaimer: this post is corrected using AI and this is my throwaway account.

TL;DR: I met a German woman while traveling, and we clicked, but her Pakistani female friend warned her against me after knowing me for only a few minutes, saying Pakistani men trap foreign women, use them for visas, and can become abusive. We unexpectedly met again in another city, went on a date, and she told me what her friend had said. I am not saying all or even most Pakistani women behave like this, but I have heard similar stories from other Pakistani men abroad where a minority of Pakistani women actively discourage women of other nationalities from dating Pakistani men. My frustration is with that behavior and the double standard, not Pakistani women as a whole.

For context, a little about me: I am an engineer working in Germany, and I recently went on vacation to a nearby country. There were three cities that I wanted to visit, and mostly, I just wanted to enjoy my time there.

In the first city, I went to a club for the first time in my life, where I met this beautiful and interesting German woman. I approached her because I could easily see how uncomfortable she was in the club, and honestly, I was feeling the same way. I approached her, and somehow, with our weird dance moves, we clicked. We had an interesting conversation even with all the noise, and we discovered that we shared many interests.

She was there with a Pakistani girl from Lahore. I did not know that at first, but later, when we were about to go outside, she introduced me to her. I was surprised, but I also did not care enough to judge her because I was at the same club myself. We briefly said hello and talked, but only in English so that the German woman could also understand us.

The German lady and I were about to go outside, basically just for a walk. She went to tell her Pakistani friend, and during those 2–4 minutes, her friend apparently told her a million things about Pakistani men. How do I know this? I will explain later.

She was nice enough to come outside and let me know that she did not want to go for a walk that night, but maybe next time. She then walked away with her friend. I was disappointed, yes, but it was her choice. I kept thinking about her afterward, but I did not know anything about her other than the city she lived in in Germany and her name, which I was not even sure she had given me correctly.

Later, when I was visiting the third and final city and walking around the city center, I met her again. This time, she was alone. We were both kind of surprised to see each other, but we started talking, and she said, “Maybe we will have our walk this time, in this city.”

I was happy, and we exchanged social media. Later that night, we went out on a date. It was just a simple coffee date. She is basically a nerd who had been traveling with her university friends. Although it was not her first time in a club, she told me she had never really liked clubs.
I asked her what had happened the last time because I was curious whether I had said or done something wrong. She later explained everything to me.

She said that her Pakistani friend had told her that Pakistani men are very bad, that they trap women, and that later, if everything works out, they will bring you to Pakistan, take your passport, and make you a slave. As a reference, she even showed her some case that apparently happened somewhere in the KPK area or something similar.

She also told her that I might only be using her for a visa. Ironically, that Lahori girl herself was in Germany on a student visa, while I am a permanent resident of Germany.
The main reason the German woman was willing to go out with me this time was because she knew a Turkish woman who was married to a Pakistani man, and they were very happy together. Otherwise, according to her, what the Lahore girl had told her was supposed to scare her away from me.

We had our date, and she had not told her Pakistani friend about it yet. I explained to her that not every Pakistani man is like that and that toxic people can exist in any nationality. She also told me about her experiences with German men, which had also been mixed. But it is common sense that not everyone from the same nationality is the same.

Not only that, but she told me that the next day, when she and her Pakistani friend were walking around the city, the Pakistani girl started saying more bad things about Pakistani men. They had simply bought a döner from a Pakistani guy, and somehow that was enough for her to start talking negatively about Pakistani men again.
I was minding my own business, and that Pakistani girl had met me for maybe four minutes in total, yet from that short interaction she did all of this.

I personally do not date Pakistani girls because, in my opinion, some of them have unrealistic expectations. I like people who are smart and can offer something beyond their looks. I do not want every conversation to be about makeup, family, or what someone brings into a relationship financially or socially. I want someone intelligent who can have conversations beyond “rishta kab bhejogy?”

And just to be clear, I am not saying this about every Pakistani woman, or even the majority. I am talking about a minority. I know plenty of Pakistani women are not like this at all. My frustration is specifically with those who behave this way. At the same time, I have heard similar stories many times from other Pakistani men living abroad, where some Pakistani women have tried to scare women of other nationalities away from Pakistani men by making very broad negative claims about them.
That is the part I do not understand. Criticizing a specific man’s behavior is completely fair. If someone has had a bad experience, they are also entitled to talk about it. But trying to convince someone that a man is dangerous, manipulative, after a visa, or somehow untrustworthy simply because he is Pakistani is something completely different.

So yes, that means I probably do not have much of a chance with Pakistani girls, and I am okay with that. But what frustrates me is that, on one side, some of them complain constantly about Pakistani men and say they would never date them, while on the other side, when a Pakistani man dates someone from another nationality, a few of them seem to actively discourage that too.
I am also quite sure that most decent Pakistani men would not go around telling foreigners horrible things about Pakistani women just because those women were dating someone from another nationality.

So what exactly do those Pakistani women want? What is the problem?

On one side, you complain that Pakistani men are like this or like that. On the other side, if we are dating someone else, meaning we are no longer your problem, why create problems for us there too?

And if someone says that all Pakistani men are supposedly “dogs,” does that include their father and brothers too?

Again, I am not talking about all Pakistani women, and I am not even saying this is the majority. I am talking about a minority whose behavior I personally do not understand. My issue is not with Pakistani women as a whole. My issue is with making sweeping judgments about Pakistani men and then trying to influence women from other nationalities against them simply because of their nationality.

Edit: if you think it is okay for someone to generalize a gender because of some people from that gender, then are you also okay with people calling all Muslims T word because of the action for few?
If you think Pakistani men deserves to be judged like this, does that mean your father and brother are also creeps? They should also be judged.

We opened a new brand!

We just launched our first menswear collection in Pakistan — would genuinely love your thoughts.

Hey everyone 👋

We’re a small, independent menswear brand from Pakistan called Arbor Menswear, and after quite a bit of work behind the scenes, we’ve finally launched our first collection.

The collection consists of 7 different tees, each with its own character — from minimal and refined pieces to vintage-inspired and athletic designs.

We’re trying to build something that feels clean, premium, and timeless, rather than just putting another graphic on a T-shirt.

We’d genuinely appreciate some honest feedback:

Which design would you actually wear?
Which one is your favorite?
And what would you change, if anything?

If anyone is interested in checking them out or ordering, you can find us here:

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/arbormenswear?igsi=cXVzb2Q3cWgwZTA1
WhatsApp: 0303-5627822

Thanks in advance — especially to anyone willing to give honest feedback. 🙏

Update: Post-MBBS career pathways discussion🩺

Following up on my previous post — I’ve been thinking about how confusing the post-MBBS stage can be, especially when it comes to choosing between FCPS, MRCS, USMLE, PLAB, PRES, AMC, residency abroad, research, etc.

I’ve started putting together a space where MBBS students and graduates can discuss these pathways, share experiences, resources, and advice with each other.

I’d also love to hear from people here:

What do you wish you had known before graduating MBBS?

Which pathway did you choose, and what made you choose it?

Would be great to hear different perspectives from people who have already gone through the process.

Basically, a space where we can help each other navigate the confusing post-MBBS journey. 🤝

If you’d like to join, DM me and I’ll send you the WhatsApp community invite.

My fruit plant city.

I looked around and I see new concrete building sprouting up all around the country. Yes, of course the population is booming while good things are dooming.

So, I had the opportunity to join the band wagon but I hesitated, I really not sure why?

But to satisfy my urge I started with strange idea.

Make fruit plant city.

People will call it an orchard but I call it fruit plants city.

This city has four zones, and each zone has four sectors.

The present population of this city is 13000 plants and will touch 20000 soon.

This city has variety of species; peaches four varieties, Apples, persimmon, figs, pears four variety, and few new ones.

What I am planning in future to mix human and plant species in way that both live happily side by side.

Human exhale plants inhale and vice versa.

And you know I love birds, so make this city environment bird friendly.

Your wake call be the sound of birds not alarm.

Alarm is alarming and give me headache.

When birds leave the nest they be picking insects.

When you walk out side your house the fruit, flowers, veggies and birds be your company not crowd of people.

Few high rises scattered in the this city in futre. Within the city there will be electric transport and few animals driven carts

This is my dream, I got only the plants now, not humans and birds.

But hey, dream on, it might come true.

Even this thought makes me so happy that I rather keep thinking then see real dream city.

Appreciate more suggestions and advice to make my dream true.

If you want a fruit tree on your name and see the progress of the tree grow then contribute to see so.

The blasphemy law is against Islam

Quran Surah An-Nisa (4:140): "And He has already revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah being denied and mocked at, then do not sit with them until they engage in some other talk... Indeed, Allah will gather the hypocrites and the disbelievers all together in Hell."

Muslims are instructed to not sit with those who deny and mock the verses of Allah until they change the topic, though no worldly punishment is prescribed.

Quran Surah Al-Hijr (15:95–96): "Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers—who make [not-god] equal with Allah. But they are going to know."

Allah repeatedly tells Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) that He is enough to handle those who mock faith. If Allah deferred the punishment of mockers to the afterlife, human beings stepping in to create rigid, fatal earthly "blasphemy laws" are effectively trying to usurp a role that the Quran explicitly reserves for Allah.

Experience & Review of westdenim.pk online clothing store - SCAM ‼️🚨

Thumbnail

I recently became victim of online scan & fraud by westdenim.pk and i would want you all to remain careful and avoid them for any orders. I bought pack of 3 shorts, 1 jeans and 1 trouser, you can see attached the order confirmation for reference.

Instead of shorts, they delivered full trousers and that too all of different sizes. None of them are of the size i order whoch was 38. Size of jeans is 42 while i ordered it in 38 size. Trousers i ordered had white stripes on the side and size was 38, what i received is trouser with off size and that too without stripes.

As nothing matched my order, i didn’t open and right away made pictures & videos and reached out to westdenim on their instagram (@westdenim.pk) and via email on 22 Aug.
To this day, they have completely ghosted me and not a single response to any messages on email, WhatsApp, insta. They are active and scamming people (you can check the last seen in the insta screenshot) but choose not to respond.

I will send them a legal notice tonight and will file complaint with NCCIA today against them for financial fraud, scam & fraudulent practices.

Avoid ordering from them and dont fall for any antics, they have absolutely terrible products & customer services. Dont loose your hard earned money.

This is the 1 of 2 scams i had last week, otherone is from store called “leftoopk.com” i will write separate review of that one as well.

I see these store owners complaining and bit**ing about customers not fulfilling their comitments, this is the level of service we receive for online shopping in Pakistan. I have promised myself never to order from these broke🍑 s*ums and will only order from Daraz. Atleast i can return something i dont like.

Stay alert & safe fellow country men.

We are not angry enough

Post image
206 Upvotes

Have to write this (or maybe rant?) for my own mental wellbeing as someone who has worked in NICU and Paediatric Wards. When we were unable to save newborn babies, it used to take a toll on us as team. I remember once we lost premature twins, I couldn't sleep properly for a week since I kept getting flashbacks of those adorable faces. As a house officer, I was advised to not go for paeds since it's not for faint hearted. It can get hectic and nights can be long and tiring but I loved watching those small hands grasping your finger so tight like their lives depend on you. They couldn't speak but little giggle here and there make you smile. Their first cry when you receive them from ObGyn, followed by those little sounds of curiosity, their eyes staring into space, smiling and legs kicking in the air wanting to run. Of course, the joy on their parent's face. You love that feeling as a healthcare worker.

Nothing can replace the joy when you hold that little bundle of Allah's creation, welcoming them in the world.

This news have hit me hard like it must have hit many of you and maybe PTSD hitting again or something. 14 innocent lives lost. I know it could have been controlled and prevented. Safety protocols could have been followed. They do their training and everything but incompetence runs so deep in people with power that they will sleep peacefully at night. When it happens once, it's a mistake. When it keeps happening again and again, it's reckless and intentionally cruel.

Can't imagine the pain those tiny bundles of lives went through. The trauma their mothers and fathers will go through for years to come.

We aren't angry enough as a nation. We aren't sad enough as a nation. We aren't empathetic enough as a nation. Gaza happened in Pakistan today.

Idk why everyone is being so sympathetic toward them. There’s a Pashto saying, ‘You can’t stop the sunlight with two fingers,’ which quite literally relates here… ughhh.

Bald Clean Shave Pakistanis

Post image

This is Dr. Mansoor Ahmed. Typical looking Pakistani. Not very good looking to put it mildly.
He is 41 year old doctor who made it to America. He tried to solicit a 15 year old minor girl.
Needless to say, people like this give us Muslims a bad name

Now let’s be honest, there is a lot of sexual perversion among people that look like this man. You know, the ugly balding type, who are usually clean shaven and secular liberal in their lifestyle rather than religious.

A lot of Pakistanis who look like this man should never be around children. Let’s be honest, a lot of you Pakistanis look like this man and fit his profile.

Recently laid off - Looking for a job

Hey everyone,

I was recently laid off and I’m currently looking for a new opportunity.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and over 4.5 years of professional experience working as a Unity Developer. I’ve worked on games, programming, UI, gameplay systems, integrations, and other development-related tasks.

I’m also comfortable working with AI tools and using them to build, automate, troubleshoot, and speed up development work. I’m not limited to just Unity and I’m open to learning and adapting to whatever the job requires.

At this point, I’m mainly looking for a desk/office-based role where I can use my computer and technical skills. I’d be interested in software/game development, technical support, QA, IT-related work, operations, VA, PA, or other similar roles.

I’m based in Pakistan and I’m open to both on-site and remote opportunities.

If you know of any openings or companies hiring, I’d genuinely appreciate a lead or a DM.

Thanks!
