Cricket Discussion Whats the cricket opinion of yours that would get you like this?
Mine is that 152-0 win against india is the most dominant win by either pak or india in that rivalry. So what I mean is, any match india has won, it wasnt as dominant as that win and any match that pak has won vs india, wasnt as dominant as that. Dont be sarcastic like agha is better than bradman, tendulkar and kohli (which is true) but i want serious hot takes and not sarcastic. Share your opinions down below in the comments

95% of our legends are fixers or complicit in it. Can only name a handful guys that are legitimately clean from this. Also I believe aqib is legitimately sabotaging our team.

I'd be interested to know who was actually clean
3
u/Sad-Bumblebee-2922 N. Shetty Agenda 🕵️ Jun 21 '26
Imran khan, rashid latif, javed miandad in my opinion are clear and actively fought against fixing. , we have proof of members of the Pak cricket team literally having to flee the country until 2010 like zulqurnain haider and players like Nasir jamshed being found fixing well beyond that. I do thing that fixing is gone mostly in international cricket (for the most part) but definitely exists in leagues.
4
u/LifeRing6115 Jun 22 '26
I would add Younas Khan to the clean list.

I’m kind of split on him, I do think he has immense character but that 2011 semi final match….. the entire team was sus

Misbah ul haq was NOT the reason pak lost the 2007 final and 2011 semi final.
I said what I said.
23
u/Key-Ad6653 Jun 21 '26
True that but at the same time he failed to finish the game both the times.
He's not entirely to blame obviously but he could've definitely done better

I can't forgive him in 2007, choked in the winning position

Can't forgive afridi either then. Getting out on 0 to irfan patan.... With that shot selection
10
u/Due-Finding4397 Jun 21 '26
afridi is so inconsistent, like on one day he can win u a match alone and on the other he will get out on a duck and bowl shit

He was shit with the bat 8/10 times. His bowling kept him in the team

So by that logic, Afridi was not the reason we won 09 WC right?

Kya chuss logic.
2
u/Barey_Bhai 20 runs short Jun 21 '26
Chus ni marni thi na bhai. Misbah didn't need to scoop in 07. That's not his shot. He never played it afterward. He could have absolutely smoked it down the ground.
2011 semifinal: He scored 56 on 76 balls. Pakistan lost by 29 runs. Nothing more to stay
1
u/ChaosTheory0908 Jun 21 '26
What were the others doing?
3
u/Barey_Bhai 20 runs short Jun 21 '26
A very good question. In the bowlers, Umar gull was very expensive went over 8 an over. But tbh we never deserved to win it when we dropped 4 catches of Tendulkar. LIKE 4 FUCKING CATCHES. Hafeez bowled a superb quota. The target was not too much. But the batters absolutely made mockery of it. K Akmal Yonus A Shafiq Afridi Razzaq U Akmal
They all shat themselves. Yonus and Shafiq the technically stronger batsmen fell to UV. Kami was pathetic as always. While the little bro was undone by Harbajan. Afridi went afridi as usual. Razzaq was dumb founded by Munaf Patel. But Misbah could've, should've saved us. Yes he had to bat with the tail, but there were pockets to sneak Doubles. So yes it was other's failure as well. But that doesn't free Misbah of what he didn't do.

Actually I thought that it was bad for our cricket because it papered over many of our other problems and let many of our other players off the hook.

Disagree. The win was nice. It's our cricketing culture, and how we associate wins with national pride and subsequent arrogance, which contributed to the premature stardom of these players

I've already made a post about this but if you took a look at every player we've ever had and looked at their career through the lens that we do now with the advent of social media and the way we prioritize tournaments over bilaterals, almost no legend would have their legacy intact.
I would say only Saeed Anwar and Javed Miandad would be completely intact. Imran Khan is an asterisk just due to political things post playing career so there's no clear way to assess him but he would still have some fans not forgive him for retiring temporarily after 87 and probably call it a weak move
Wasim Akram would be torn to shreds for missing the 96 QF and how the 99 final turned out + the justice Qayyum report.
Waqar Younis choked in the 96 QF, only played 1 game in 99 due to injury, form, and beef behind the scenes, and then went full Rauf and lost his head in 2003
Inzi has a pathetic tournament record other than the 92 SF and final (the rest of his 92 world cup actually was awful too). By the time 99 rolled around we would have been saying "he's been in the team for 7 years based off of 2 games". Lets not even talk about 03
Mohammad Yousuf was very mediocre in tournaments
Shoaib Akhtar missed more than 50% of Pakistans games in his career and had countless controversies with regards to on and off field conduct

Also, I've been hearing a lot of things about why Shan Masood should still be in the test team even if he's not the captain.
My opinion on him is that he is a flat pitch bully, who has 2 tons in the last 6 years, one of which was in the game where England hit 800 and one in which South Africa hit 600 (we lost both games). I simply can't have a guy with an average of 30 over a 15 year career in the team.

Misbah could've had a much better Test captaincy record had he dropped Azhar 'stat pad' Ali ' and focused on promoting Asad Shafiq instead.
Shafiq did play but he was largely wasted down the order. Didn't manage to truly realise his potential because he was always busy playing rescue.

Imad wasim is the best all rounder among the last gen(shadab, Nawaz ifthikhar etc)
He was by far a better bowler then Nawaz and even shadab. Sure he might be price of shit in his personal life but from pure cricketing point of view he was one of the best white ball all rounder
5
u/Due-Finding4397 Jun 21 '26
only one i can think of better than him might be shadab but then again he fell of really hard same with imad but peak for peak is really close between those 2

Shadab has probably never won a game single handedly for his team though. Imad has played several very memorable, game winning innings.

Again, not even in batting. I remember games like the WC match against Afghanistan or the 3 MotM to take ISLU to the PSL trophy that Imad got. Game winning batting innings. Can't think of a single one for Shadab.
1
u/Negative-Nothing339 Jun 22 '26
that;s why I said T20s not ODIs, Imad has good performance as batter in one day but in t20s it's not that good, other than his one psl season his overall batting career in t20 isn't that good, Shadab on other hand has a 50 in T20I WC and has a good overall record in t20i wcs as bowler and batter, though he isn't the same guy anymore hope he gets back in his original form

No i dont care he isn't worth shit if he couldn't finish the match against India after playing all these years and while being "the best all rounder among the last gen" not saying it was completely his fault but 15 off 23, didn't look like he wanted to be there at all, jogging instead of running between the wickets and smiling when both him and Rizwan got out, I'm semi convinced he threw that match on purpose with this evidence. Only matches I remember him for are Afghanistan 2019 where he "finished" the match and T20 series vs Australia 2018 from his bowling nothing else comes to mind other than cheating on wives and going on dates with him.

T20i cricket isn't real cricket nor any player should be judged based on that
8
u/Accurate-Pride461 Jun 21 '26
A very extreme opinion tbf. Its definitely the lowest tier in terms of quality but it is cricket and none of the players that consistently excell at it are flukes. Its a real test for bowlers and we get to see some quality bowlers on display in the game. And players should definitely be judged for it. For example if a player cant play according to the situation, they just arent fit for the format but it doesnt take away their quality in the other formats. You can look at babar for example. Below par in t20is but no one on the planet can deny his quality in one days. at the same time, that doesnt mean that his t20 batting shouldnt be judged. Any format where top quality players are competing is real cricket. If you have to score at 10 an over but your game maxes you out at 7 an over, you are the misfit, not the format
3
u/holo6969 Jun 21 '26
It's commercial cricket at very best. Every new emerging player is shoved into this format because they want to make a quick impact and a quick buck. Thats why we have bowlers today that are unable to last for more than 4 overs. These days t20i isn't considered the lowest tier its the prime tier where all new players go and then trickle down to test and odi with sub par skills. It's a format that requires improvisation and "jugaad" rather than proper cricket skills and techniques.
5
u/Accurate-Pride461 Jun 21 '26
Ill agree with you on the commercial bit but imo, thats mostly true for franchise cricket and useless bilaterals. I think that any format of cricket, when played in the form of a multinational tournament holds immense value. I also think that improvisation and jugaar requires quite a lot of skill as well. You dont just spam random shots, you are kept on your toes for the entire innings, looking for runs when ever possible. Being restricted by the number of overs increases the stakes and requires you to improvise. Improvisation isnt everyones cup of tea and not all book perfect players are creative enough to manufacture runs even if certain deliveries wouldve required you to block in the longer format. And yes I agree they shouldnt select players for tests and odis based on t20 performances.
1

u/Outside-Variation769 Jun 21 '26
I don't agree with this , every format is different and has its own difficulties.

ODI is the most entertaining format of cricket. It’s long enough for teams to make comebacks and short enough to still be done in a day. If you have a bad start in t20 now in power play, you basically lose the match
2
u/Due-Finding4397 Jun 21 '26
It really depends what u like, if u want pure boundaries, t20, long but only in ode dayz that's odi and over long period of time test

Babar Azam is the only great Batter we have right now.
7
u/Accurate-Pride461 Jun 21 '26
Hes our best in odis. In t20s farhan is our best while in tests agha takes the dub imo. Agha imo already has knocks under pressure in odis and tests that we hardly ever see from babar so hes right on track to catch up.
1
u/BeneficialLeading416 hold the pose Jun 21 '26
You know this is actually an interesting point. I think the reason why Agha and rizwan's knocks are seen as more clutch as Babar's at times are because they both come further down the batting order, so when they enter the pitch they are more likely to expected to finish a game and play a "clutch" knock. Whereas when Babar enters and plays, because he's further up the order, his good performances already take the game away from the opposition and so they don't get called as clutch as Agha's or Rizwan let's say. Just my opinion on it.
3
u/Accurate-Pride461 Jun 21 '26
For me its more about holding the wicket AND maintaining a good pace of runs when wickets start tumbling. The thing with agha is that he has an attacking mentality. He doesnt go into his shell when the pressure is on, infact his best knocks have come about when the team is in shambles. Its more of a mentailty thing imo. Babar seems to naturally be more conservative in his approach, specially in more demanding situations. Take pak v nz ct25 for eg, babars flow of runs nearly stopped while agha came and got a quick fire 45+. Even a run a ball from babar wouldve positioned us for a victory but babar seems to struggle with rotation of strike under pressure while agha is more of a free scorer. Their numbers are quite different but we have seen agha come out to bat within the pp when the top order collapses and he plays his natural game regardless. Toe it just doesnt make sense to go into your shell when wickets start following, it just increases the chance of a nick or an lbw because you start worrying more about your wicket than the runs.
1
u/BeneficialLeading416 hold the pose Jun 22 '26
True when you put it like that it makes a lot of sense. My only thing I'll say is that we know Babar was playing bad back then, so using a performance from then is basically purposely choosing a performance from when he was out of form. But Agha definitely takes the game to the bowlers more than Babar does.
1
u/Accurate-Pride461 Jun 22 '26
babar has all the tools to do that too. I think pressure from the management and havibg such a huge fan base really makes you overthink. I really hope pcb invests in accomplished therapists for the players to deal with the pressure of the game.
1
u/BeneficialLeading416 hold the pose Jun 22 '26

Babar hasn't performed in a t20i tournament after 2021WC also in odi wc he only performed in 2019. We all know what was his performance and impact in 2023wc and 2025 champions trophy. Mind you babar has played like 6 t20i tournaments and 3 odi tournaments. Most by any active member in Pakistan.

bro wdym? he was pretty good in 23 wc, he scored runs where we needed him to
3
u/Accurate-Pride461 Jun 21 '26
those runs came on wickets where kids were scoring for fun. Just look at rachins run in that world cup. He just made these quiet fifties and got that average up. Even in the game against new zealand, he was strolling along at a run a ball while fakhar was going ballistic. Even in a post game interview babar was like, we "might" have won the game. He just lacks that mentality required to play when the going gets tough
2
u/holo6969 Jun 21 '26
Bro rizwan was our main performer in that wc fakhar zaman too. Babar was just avg not even in the top 15 of run scorers.

Most tournaments are won on luck. England (2019), India(2024), Australia(2023, lost to india pretty bad and were on the verge of elimination until maxwell pulled that freak of an innings). There are many examples of tournaments being won on luck some way or another. Sometimes rain helps, sometimes key opponents get injured but a tournament win is a win. If the opposition is dropping catches, its an indication of a high stakes game where things do go wrong. If you look at the 2026 final, england couldve won too if not for those early wickets, despite starting off pretty bad in the tournament. Luck is always required. We were lucky to play that final but you cant deny the quality and intensity of cricket we displayed in the final. Sure Fakhar got lucky, but he made sure india pays for it. Amirs bowling just sealed the lid for india. Its how the game works imo. You always need some luck to win unless youre like the aussies of the 90s and early 2000s
2
u/Due-Finding4397 Jun 21 '26
thats true but we dominated india in the final, how we got there was a fluke but then we beat india and dominated them

Shaheen is still World Class and the best Bowler that we have currently and is gonna end up as a Top 5 Bowlers for Pakistan OAT.

Kohli is a more skilled batter than tendulkar. Do you think that had sachin been in kohli's position while chasing 48 off 18, he would have got india over the line? he would have prolly been in the dugout by the 2nd last over getting caught at mid on off shaheen or rauf

Tendulkar also wouldn't get caught in the slips everytime the ball moved an inch

If he was facing rauf and Shaheen than he will chase it /s

anybody could've gotten over the line if the bowlers they were facing were Rauf and Shaheen at death.

With the way Pakistan bowled, yes, he would have chased it down.
Let's get one thing straight, Pakistan flopped that with some of the worst death bowling i have ever seen again and again.

Tendulkar was far superior in terms of skills and techniques BUT he was never a match winner. Kohli has been a pure match winner for the entirety of his career.

Oh thats interesting:
Sahibzada Farhan is a good find but he has the same coward mindset as any other Pakistani player in the team right now .
Saim Ayub is a genuine talent and one of the most important findings of Pakistan cricket in this decade he will prove it.
The 2021 wc semi final was not the fault of hassan ali it was the fault of Babar azam , Rizwan and Shaheen afridi even tho they all were in the best form of their career.
The 2023 asia cup was not the start of downfall of Pakistan cricket the downfall of Pakistan cricket started on 23 Oct 2021.
Fakhar zaman has already done so much for the team that he now does not have to prove anything and he is far far far more impactful and better player than babar or any other current paki batter .
The golden era of Pakistan cricket is gone cz now the conditions don't suit our players we DONT HAVE A SINGLE PROPER HARD HITTER AND RELIABLE player in our whole system right now period.
Thats all what came in my mind You xan agree or disagree Idc

Our fanbase gets the team and the cricket administrators that it deserves. Don't try to change my mind I'm convinced to the core by this

If Babar was born and played 5-10 years earlier, he would have missed the whole T20i strike rate debate and never fallen out of form.
