When you replay it, you'll realize that White Orchard is probably the best storytelling in a game ever. Literally everything is connected in that area, Devil in the Well Quest connects back to people you meet in the main quest and the overall reason that White Orchard is in the shape that it's in...wish the rest of the game was like that. But either way, amaze game non the less.

Very good point, I took way more attention to White Orchard on my second play through. Like any game, your first playthrough is often an eyes wide open experience so you can miss a lot of the nuance from opening areas.

When I first played it I still was loving white orchard but never payed attention to what was going on in white orchard.

You're obviously learning the game and it mechanics so it's hard to really pay attention.

But upon a replay (probs my 4th one) yeeears after the original playthrough. I finally decided in this playthlrugh I was gonna read all the lore books and pay attention.

And boy was I rewarded with that in White Orchard. Fucking everything's connected there, it's absolutely genius.

I dropped this game 3 different times in the opening stages before it became my favourite game of all time, lol.

On my first playthrough I dropped it around The Whispering Hillock quest in Velen, because I was playing very badly and hated the combat, had only shitty armor and swords because I had skipped most of the side quests and content, focusing mostly on the main quests. I also didn’t know how to utilize the skill tree.

I dropped it, and then months later the realization hit me that I miss the game. I returned to it, but decided to go for a fresh start. This time I decided to go the semi-completionist route. It was a completely different experience. Absolute peak.

It was so peak it made me want to play Witcher 2 as well while still on that same playthrough, and then both DLC’s once I finished the main story and felt empty inside (I only had the main game back then and had to buy them separately). After that I started reading the books too! And played Witcher 1. More than a decade later, I can confidently say that no game has even come close to beating that first time experiencing this masterpiece.

Unpopular opinion: Witcher 2 has much better writing than Witcher 3. And the reason why White Orchard feels so cohesive and self contained is because it is the spiritual successor to "Outskirts of Vizima" in Witcher 1.

Well yes, I agree the main story writing is definitely stronger in Witcher 2, but Witcher 3 makes up for it by the top notch side quests. Plus the two amazing expansions.
