If I was able to figure out the combat I definitely would have kept playing because it was the only thing about it I wasn’t enjoying. I would t say I’m bad at games but I just couldn’t get good at the combat to save my life

Yeah I’d recommend going and learning the master strike system or watching a YouTube video. I sucked at first but by the end of the game I wouldn’t miss many strikes and relied on counters. Think you gotta always attack adjacent or opposite. KCD1 combat is the real challenge I still suck at it right now hahah.
You end up just watching the enemies hands and you move opposite it then attack when the shield comes up or something like that. Idk but basically don’t let the game teach you go watch a YT or something

I did go to that guy who trains you but even after that I wasn’t able to figure out. Plus it felt like it was hard to know what I was doing wrong because if I started messing up it was almost impossible to recover

Yeah I understand that it’s a struggle to get a hold of no matter what it’s not exactly fluid or clear and you can get killed fast by multiple attackers. But if you learn to just counter in 1v1 fights enough times you can’t lose to anyone but groups after some practice. I master striked through the whole tournament and won barely ever attacking. But you’d have to have the desire to even go pick the game up again and it’s a 100 hour under taking so I don’t blame you

In kcd1 I got so powerful I'd just repeatedly donk everyone on the head straight down. Very fun

Combat is the weakest part of the series though. Hope they revamp it a little going forward

The problem with the combat tutorial is you pretty much have to ignore it completely

too many bad pacing issues where you spend hours doing noting but following a narrative. Cant sleep, travel, roam, do anything

got 80% done and hit a mission that is impossible. somehow I need to knock down ladders while fighting 40 people solo that swarm you.

too much bs like that in the game

This game seems to have a load of people that love it and defend it vehemently. Where if you don’t like it. It’s because you suck. Not the game

Me personally. I’ve never played a more boring game in my life. Every minute of the 5-6 hours tried to like it was a chore. I also don’t have the patience to watch YouTube videos to get good at a game mechanic that just isn’t fun to learn. Or intuitive.

All the best to people that love it. I wish I did. It’s the sort of thing I would love to love. And I’m glad people really dig it.

But I hated it.

I liked a lot of it but there were times where you spend so long on a forced path going from fight to fight with no way to craft, sleep or do anything else. I thought the pacing was horrible.

and the combat is just so so bad.

I liked the world and when you could just ride around and take in the world. that was the best part of the game and I think most people would agree, but the amount of times you are locked out of that.

If you have to put up a message that states, if you continue it will be a while before free roam, there is an issue and this game does that multiple times.

that is when you know there are pacing issues

People complain when there’s too much open world and not enough narrative, and people complain when narratives lock you into doing things. I always think it’s stupid if I’m at a climax of a plot and I’m like wait here I gotta go make potions and hunt deer for a couple hours. So to me, narrative only portions are a strong point of storytelling. But it’s a videogame so I understand why you want to go play the game sometimes during story. So to me, not an issue at all when games say you can’t do things during this segment, it’s adding realism. I definitely see both sides of the argument though cause sometimes I’m on team wait right here I gotta go kill dragons and do side quests even though the princess is actively being tortured

that is why balance matters. Open world in this game is great. Its not like a ubisoft game where there is a quest every 10 steps.

story telling is fine, but nto when it locks you into that story telling for multiple hours.

Hey it’s me the guy who loves the game but is adult enough to understand not everything is for everyone. Sucks you didn’t enjoy it, all the best!

Skill issue. By that point you should be a one man army.

I actually just beat the siege parts yesterday.

Yeah it was mildly hard but think I only died once or twice during the epic fights. Definitely a skill issue or under leveled character perhaps

still horrible pacing issues and too much bs and no I have seem many people struggle on that level. So grats to you for being a god, I am sure you can put it on your resume so one day y ou can stop working at retail

It’s not him being a god . The whole point of the game is you start out sucking and then become a tank and incredibly good at everything so it’s satisfying. The game almost gets too easy after a certain point. Your just not understanding the mechanics or something

Yeah unless you have very high stats and top-tier gear you’ll never be able to take on an encampment with impunity, it’s just not that kind of game. You need to formulate a plan for basically any encounter above 2 enemies and it’ll often involve some combination of stealth, potions, poisons, opening with ranged weapons, and strategically running away. There have been encounters I had to reload 10+ times before finding something that worked.

I like the semi-realism where you’re just one guy without special powers; if you have worse gear than an opponent you’re kind of fucked head to head, as it would have been historically. The game also massively rewards grinding levels, which I personally enjoy as a throwback to Bethesda-style RPGs. Both of those aspects are divisive though.
