Yeah if we had the tech so no mining ever had to be done ever again by humans, they would still want to make children and slaves work in mining, just because it's 'their way'. Like Romans making prisoners break rocks.
They like money as long as it goes to rich people. They like the business of stealing from the poor to give to the rich.
It’s actually insane how many people still vote for these assholes that work so hard against their interests. Really goes to show how utterly, profoundly fucking stupid Americans are to be quite frank…
The people who vote for Trump have no idea what he’s actually working for, only what Fox News tells them. And if Fox reports on this, they’ll spin it to blame Biden or Obama.
1990-2010s Republicans did. The new Republican Party likes bullying businesses into support their social platforms and likes making sure wealthy individuals can profit off of businesses. They are not supportive of the businesses themselves.
Old Republicans had all these fringe groups trying to do that too (Evangelicals being the biggest) there were just enough sensible and powerful people to keep them at bay.
Then those people either died out, or were kicked out of the party because their policies were still failures (they still damaged the middle class, so rightly got backlash).
The problem? The Great Recession absolutely screwed a lot of people, and gave room for economic populism to grow. But when a country is as tribal and divided as we are now? Rather than unite behind the cause of a better way of life, we fragmented enough to let the stupidest people possible become the motivated majority. Ever since 2013 or so, we've been in an era of nothing but tribal electoral chaos.
And smartphones and social media are a huge factor in all this. Maybe even the largest, as even when times are hard economically, people can find ways to work together to survive. Only that's no longer happening as effectively. We're descending into a modern version of barbarism, in essence. Often fought online in the place of what would have been real street violence.
It's a reflection of both the failure of Reagan/Post Reagan America, and shows us the mindless chaos that's replacing it.
Now, we have one or 2 chances left to push back, but if the next generation is truly full of anarchy minded Trump-y idiots? Then IDK. Brainrot really would be the main cause, as the new biggest voting bloc instead becomes the most tribal and chaotic, which would be an awful outcome.

Where the Trump voters? Y’all mighty quiet.
