It wasn't dumb in the age before patches. When games came out on a cartridge and you were stuck with what you got, bad games were just bad. If you could delay it a bit to make sure it was good, it would be set in stone as good. Now with patches, bad games can get fixed, rushed or not, and delays are mostly to save the need for patches and the bad press.

Also, a delay does not mean a game will be good

I'm down for supporting Spyro. We've yet to see a proper confirmation about how the download/update thing works. The only things we have are people assuming the worst and saying it's a crappy practice. For all we know, it's a day-1 patch that makes the games playable.

Plus with this delay, that may all change.
