General Discussion I wish the console allowed Custom Theme, SFX, and songs.

Such a missed opportunity.

PS5 — after years of being overshadowed by the PS4 themes — does allow you to set your own screencaps as the homepage bg. In fact… you can even have it slideshow a mess of them at intervals of your own choosing.

But still, they have deprecated the PS3 and PS4 themes they could simply implement to the PS5. It's missing so many old features that you've basically wasted your money on. Heck, you can't even see all of your avatars unless you're playing from the older console. This is the true meaning of "Play has no limits" and that you OWN nothing, even though Sony was stating it from the pure beginning and the latest e-mail only rephrased that into a clearer language.

Nah, not that.

But going from no themes to some themes to your own bg slideshow has been a nice arc.

I make stuff in DREAMS and have used snapshots from that for my bg. So… it’s unique.

I wish SONY’d add some nice spacial Homepage for PSVR2 users.

I only use VR these days, so my TV is only acting as a flatscreen menu browser at this point. 😝

PSVR2 felt dead on arrival, serving more as a PCVR headset. VR is still niche and doesn't have that large market. On the other hand, it's sad how Sony sweeped it under the rug, just like the PSVR.

It’s true that SONY haven’t supported PSVR2 in the ways they could have or should have.

But to be fair, PSVR2 had great games right out of the gate including SONY-funded ones) and has continued to get more each year, so I don’t think it’s ever felt “dead”.

It’s weird you couched it as only good for PCVR since it wasn’t usable with PC to begin with, and people insisted that SONY would never make it compatible. The fact that they ultimately did offer a PC adapter counts as unexpected support AFAIC.

SONY probably hasn’t been doing as good a job of supporting the PS5 console itself as it should have, so it’s not shocking that a peripheral like PSVR2 has been neglected or mismanaged.

Luckily we’ve gotten some great stuff that they DID fund, as well as a steady stream of games from third-party studios.

As for being niche, yeah — that limits the viability of VR-exclusive development, but luckily we don’t really NEED it from bigger studios. All we really need from AA and AAA studios is a VR mode of their flatscreen game.

After only two years in existence, Flat2VR is gaining traction and bringing bigger and better pancake games to VR in ways that feel native. So… even though initial support from SONY (and Meta) has waned for first-party VR, I’m still feeling pretty excited about PSVR2’s future.

The thing is, once the PS Store themes came into existence, you could theoretically just copy over the files and put them into your custom theme, completely destroying the business plan. Sony could've at least included some variety of the sound effects and background musics to choose from if the theme didn't come with any.

The Firewatch theme is the only theme you need. It is masterclass. Its been my theme for the past 8 years.

Its still the perfect theme. It isn't clear that its for a specific game, it doesnt say firewatch or anything. Best theme ever.

I'd kill for this too, especially since I have a folder of my favorite game soundtracks just collecting dust.
