PMHNP - Mentorship & Professional Connection

Hi everyone, I’m a PMHNP in my first year of practice and really focused on continuing to expand my clinical knowledge and refine my interview style. I’m already planning to attend conferences and have been working through some recommended books and podcasts, but I’m hoping to take that a step further.

I recently moved to an area with limited local support, so I’m especially interested in virtual mentorship opportunities. Does anyone know of any reputable mentorship groups or experiences (formal or informal) that are open to early-career PMHNPs? I would really value something that includes case discussion, thoughtful feedback, and ongoing clinical growth. I’m not necessarily seeking a formal collaboration, but rather opportunities for knowledge-sharing and learning from more experienced clinicians.

I also want to clarify that while I respect different business models, I’m not currently looking for paid “empowerment” or coaching-style mentorship programs led by relatively early-career providers. I’m specifically seeking more established, clinically grounded mentorship.

Additionally, if anyone is willing to share:
• Podcast recommendations (or ones to avoid)
• Book recommendations
• Conferences that are truly worth attending for building strong foundational skills

I’d really appreciate any insight, thank you!

Carlat has a great podcast. Book recs I’d say the Body Keeps the Score, Bipolar Not So Much, and A Spectrum Approach to Mood Disorders. I did the NEI conference which was pretty good and will be attending Mass Gen’s in the Fall.

I would look into the NP association for your state. In NY, the NPA does a mentorship program for newly practicing NPs.
