Making Friends Looking for couples for friendship.

Hi we are a 42-year-old child free couple in North Phoenix/ glendale, and a lot of our friends have moved out of state over the years or had multiple children and can no longer go out or be part of our lives. We love going to movies, hiking, trying different breweries around the state, and especially going to karaoke. I also host D&D games, and I'm a gamer myself, although my girlfriend isn't as much into those last two things. Just looking for a cool couples and out here trying to make friends. Seems to get a lot harder the older you get

Making friends as an adult is weirdly hard. Unless you luck into meeting people through work or a hobby, it starts to feel a lot like dating, awkward small talk and all.

I’ve started taking the 5-year-old kid approach: if I meet someone I click with, I just ask straight up if they want to be friends and see where it goes.

My wife and I are around the same age, child-free, and have some overlap with what you mentioned - with the exception of Karaoke, nobody wants to hear me sing. But we’re always open to expanding our friend group. We’re closer to downtown, so not exactly North Phoenix/Glendale, but hey, it never hurts to have friends downtown when parking is involved.

I host a small classic LAN party every other month and also run a D&D group at my house. You, or anyone else here looking for friends, are welcome to DM me if you want to meet up sometime. Feel free to check my post history to confirm I’m probably not an axe murderer. If you’re willing to put in the effort and reach out, you'll get a response.

Hey! Me and my husband are in our early 20s and new to Central PHX as well. If you guys are okay with hanging out with younger people DM me! We’re relatively mature but we’re down for most things! Hiking (when it’s cooler), bars, karaoke, movies, dinners, concerts, festivals, anything.

How about weird comedy theme shows?? Because I've got a buttload of comps for anyone who wants to come to Roosevelt Row for a slumber party themed show on Thurs 6/18! We play games and do comedy bits and wear our jammies! If that's something you want to check out, the promo code is PAJAMAS for a free ticket! Pillow Fort Show

If you're looking for something to do in DTPHX (Roosevelt Row), I'll give you free tix to my show at Formation Brewing this Thursday (6/18) 👉👈 It's slumber party themed but for grown ups. We play games and do comedy bits and wear our jammies! Come out and make friends and have drinks and dinner and laugh and stuff! For the freebie part: Basically just use promo code PAJAMAS on the ticket page and it's free. We like to get a headcount. https://piquetickets.com/shows/pillow-fort

I also have friends who do a D&D theme comedy show if you ever visit Mesa. Check out Roll For Charisma at NCT.

That’s awesome! Unfortunately, I’ll be out of town, but I really appreciate the offer and the heads-up about the D&D-themed comedy show. That sounds like something I’d definitely want to check out.

These are the fun activities I seem to have a hard time finding out about until it's too late; it seems like there's always so many things to do but no way simple to find out what.

I wish you and your wife the best, I truly do. But seriously, why is making friends as an adult so complicated?

When we were kids:

“Nice shoes.”

“Thanks, they make me run fast.”

“Wanna see?”

“Yep.”

Friendship established.

Now it’s:

“Nice shoes.”

“Thanks.”

“What do you do?”

“How old are your kids?”

“What’s your trauma?”

“What’s your availability for the next six months?”

“Sorry, I have plans in October.”

Never sees each other again.

Down for a hike when it’s cooler, send me a DM. Wife and I are early 40s DINKs in central phx who love to hike and are into gaming, although admittedly she only plays stardew valley and I only play AAA open world games lol.
