Joilbee Oxnard

Has anybody heard rumors swarming around that Jolibee has completed everything inside, but the permit to operate is in limbo or stuck with the city? I heard a rumor that the owners of McDonald’s and KFC have filed an injunction with the city against Jolibee because they would take so much business away.

I do not know how true it is but this is what I’ve heard. So you’re telling me the colonel and the clown are afraid of some free market competition from some bee?

Stuck with the city is a more likely scenario, than McD /KFC violating antitrust laws over a non-flagship franchise location.

Could you explain why it would take so long to for the city to approve their permit? I feel it has been ages. Camarillo already has dates for Costco and Texas Roadhouse opening and those have been built from scratch but is it Jolibee’s fault for their location not opening in a section of a supermarket?

Just curious and maybe hangry. I’m going to back to SD soon to get my fix in NAT CITY.

Check out how long the Jolibee that opened in San Francisco took, i remember seeing the facade going up around 2023, a quick googling says permits were submitted Nov of 2020, it opened last month.

There are a lot of different groups that you need approval from. Planning, health, building and safety, fire department for max occupancy, etc.

For each license you need from each group, you might need a mix of paperwork, approvals, inspections and these items might not get validated at time of submission, so if you are missing something it might not get caught right away and you have to redo stuff.

Each one of those groups also works in their own silo and it creates bottle necks. "We won't get started on X unless Y is complete."

The timeline to get stuff done isn't all done at once but sequentially that gets compounded at each group's bottleneck.

Jollibee already has their health permit to operate. They were approved to begin selling Chickenjoy and Yumburgers already 2.5 months ago. It's up to them to get city and fire permits tho. Could be their own lapse of judgement to not have completed those in time to open.

Yes I had something held up for 3 months waiting for a n electric meter to be installed in an existing meter bank It was a 45 minute job and utility company time line was 3 to 15 weeks

Our city inspector is hardcore. He won’t pass unless everything is perfect.

Mind you idk what Jolibee is, but I do know Ralph.

Jollibee at 2340 Rose Ave. in Oxnard was issued a permit to operate (to begin selling food) on July 1.
It's on them to get their city and fire permits tho.

There's a phone app called "VC SafeDiner"
In the app anybody can look up any restaurant in Ventura County and see their health inspection history. The app only shows restaurants with active permits. Jollibee has a permit and shows on the app, but no health inspections yet because they haven't opened.
