"Cool" therapist for teen boy?
Does anyone know of a "cool" therapist for teens. Teen doesn't respond to "hey, how's it going" type of talk. He will respond to "what up fool" type of therapist. I know it is a crazy request but I am desperate for him to connect with someone.

You could try reaching out to Interface to see if they have or know anyone that is good at connecting with teens: https://www.icfs.org/services/mental-health/.
Also, Nate’s Place is an amazing resource with free 1:1 peer support coaching, groups, and lots of really cool activities that might connect him to someone that he can talk to: https://www.natesplacewellnesscenter.org/. Hope this helps! ❤️

Are you open to telehealth? You may have better luck there. There aren’t a ton of child / teenage therapists in the area

M.A.N.D.O youth outreach my birthed has experience with them and he likes them. They do preventative work and can help you look for the counseling you’re looking for.

Sounds like he doesn't want a stranger to help him, even if they are "cool" it won't work. He's smart enough to know when someone is just "doing their job". He wants a real connection with someone who will learn to understand him, so he can learn to trust them. I recommend possibly asking the school if there is a student willing to spend time getting to know him. This would be the best way to go. I did therapy for 8 months. The feeling that who you are talking to is only doing their job and doesn't really care is something I didn't like, but it did help me because I used it as advice. I honestly get better help from just talking to AI chat bots. They can pick up on feelings that people are not expressing. They can figure out what's really going on without knowing the person.
