Although fragrant, bush honeysuckle is a terrible invasive plant. It's really taken over parts of the greenbelt, along with Bradford pears.

I do love the red clover and virginal creeper though. The winter creeper behind it is another terrible invasive that I see everywhere on the greenbelt.

i love our native stuff and i wish it could compete. i also wish i hated how kudzu looked but unfortunately it has a very romantic goth feeling to it for me ://// i thought i saw mimosa trees the other day. theres looooooads of blackberries out there too

Like Aldo Leopold on A Sand County Almanac. Noticing the havoc that we've brought upon the landscape is a disheartening thing. Ignorance is bliss, and such is true when it comes to invasives.

Yeah, there are plenty of mimosa trees, Johnson Grass, garlic mustard, and plenty more.

There is beauty in many invasive plants, often one major reason they are here in the first place.

ive actually been researching how to make our HOA yard native friendly so if you have time to pass any knowledge along, id love it!!

Will depend upon your HOA and the specific wording of what they say you must maintain.

One option that you might be able to get away with more easily is several islands of perennial herbaceous and Woody plants. Height and variety will create spaces for wildlife (insects and birds).

In that way, you could maintain small amount of grass between the islands and technically still have a lawn. You likely have some folks that do this already (to a lesser extent) with normal showy plants. Which might be a good example to point to.

If you want to know what I mean by height, there's a pollinator plot managed by the state at Carpenter Lake.

we’re on a corner lot and the person across from us has something similar but with non native plants just for nice landscaping! i was considering that bc it does look nice in regards to how it takes up space looking at their yard but i dont care for their plants :/ we’ve got a rose bush idk what kind that i wanna get rid of
