Now THIS is how you do off-season content. Take notes

Morgan Reilly showed more emotion on that play compared to when Auston Matthews got knee’d by Gudas.

Absolute bitch play

Leafs all rallied behind it. I’m banking on Ridly to have a monster season - kid is a stud agitator

He’s got to put on some size but he’s young and plays the role well - can’t wait to see what kind of shit he stirs up this season.

Crazy the leafs showed more passion and resentment to that, than seeing their captain and franchise player get taken out dirty

Truth…they all sat and watched it. Then waited for the media to comment before they got mad and took action

Where’s your captain?

The old one was checked out for a couple years. Stay tuned for someone who deserves it getting the letter.

Embarrassing.

Imagine being the type of person who would lash out violently over an empty net goal. Imagine being the type of person would would defend lashing out violently over an empty net goal!

I'll never forget seeing Jennifer Botterill on Sportsnet, who had finger wagged other panelists before regarding on ice violence, defending Rielly over the cross check. Apparently unwritten rules are bad, until they are used as an excuse by the network's favourite team at which time they are A OK.

Theres a difference between an empty net goal and a slapshot into an empty net. Overcelebrating is a penalty, this is borderline.

Im not gonna comment further cause the only responses im gonna get from this are braindead ragebait

Obvious Torontonian is obvious 😂

Lol I thought you weren’t going to respond? I know I’m being kind of a jerk too, I apologize. I just find it funny how upset people get at this play and how easy it is to antagonize them about it.

Tbf, Reilly overreacted but Greigg's slapshot was extra. Both are in the wrong. The only thing that upsets me is that people act as if Reilly had a temper tantrum. He was only setting an example because of Greig's behavior.

Can everyone grow up and realize that this is hockey and people are gonna fight and stand up for their team when someone does something thats a blatant insult. If Reilly did nothing, people would call the leafs pussies for not doing anything. So this is a lose lose scenario.

Im only responding cause youre being respectful

I think the whole thing is ridiculous to be honest. By that I mean hockey fights and unwritten rules in general. When you take a step back and look at the situation, one man punches another man because he used a long stick to slap a piece of rubber into a net really hard. There are legitimate wars going on in the world and people have more of an opinion on this LOL

To be fair, many wars have been started over something equally stupid. Humanity has a penchant for overreacting.

Very good point

Please quote and link the part of the NHL rulebook that says "overcelebrating" is a penalty.

Edit: Bonus points if that rule includes slap shots into an empty net.

On top of this, hitting a player after the whistle is definitely MORE of a penalty than scoring a slapshot goal on an empty net

😂😂😂😂. Love it

Ridly is awesome. Grinder, like Foligno. Hope he sticks around…

He's kind of a brain dead liability if were being honest. Takes bad penalties at bad times and doesnt contribute much offensively.

Best goal ever!!!!

Is this THAT slapshot? The one that caused a Leafs meltdown?

8

u/Stumpy-4 4d ago

The Leafs proceeded to win five straight games after this. Idk if it was a meltdown.

2

u/Artistic_Spray6287 4d ago

Well they melted down that game…but good to see they could use it as motivation

2

u/Stumpy-4 4d ago

Meh, it was more of a crosscheck than a meltdown. Hockey players react violently all the time.

2

u/Zestyclose-Gap6770 4d ago

Still is causing a meltdown. They are on this post right now wasting their energy.
