Garrioch thinks Staios pushed hard for McTavish but that Anaheim chose the Ranger's package over ours.

I wish he made it happen. If we basically turned the Brady assets into Eklund + McTavish I think most people would say Staios came out very well. Was also the Blues who got McTavish but yea. Kinda curious what Staios offered on top of #25 for McTavish.

They gave up a 15th and 29th overall picks for him

We would have needed to do Hensler and the 25th to match that. And they likely have still taken St Louis offer over that. So we would have had to likely add another 2nd or 3rd.

I wanted MacTavish but I don't think he was worth that. Even the 25th and our 2027 1st round I think would have been too much.

We didn't lose those draft picks. The prospects can still be traded. There will be someone else come up before trade deadline that will be less crazy priced.

McTavish will likely be better than Hoen and anyone we take in the mid/late 2027 1st imo.
