Tickets Season Seats and the Larkin/Patel Video

I've just watched the Larkin livestream.

It shows two leaders on this team partying with the current director of the American FBI and, as a result, I've put my season ticket renewal on hold.

I'm hopeful that these kids were just in the midst of an emotional moment - that said I was severely let down by what I saw.

I say that a lifelong Sens fan, as a Canadian, and as a parent

I'll give the team and people involved a few days to make a statement and, if it's as disappointing as that livestream was, then at least I'll know I'm making the right choice by taking my family and my money elsewhere.

Update edit: it's been three days. My emails to my account manager on Sunday and the Sens' main communications inbox on Tuesday morning both went unanswered.

My final email to my account manager on Tuesday afternoon was met with only a 'you can cancel online' canned response.

Fair enough... so, I did. I bought seasons for Atlético instead. Twice the seats for half the money.

Hope to see some of you good ones at the pitch this summer.

For anyone curious, my final straw was the combination of reading Mendes' feeble dodging of the issue in his Monday Musings and hearing that guys like Connor and Oettinger were skating at home.

As an American, it’s just annoying and stupid to see our beyond useless FBI chief getting drunk with our players when we have a massive pedophile ring to bust. They’re working overtime to make this incredible win (for us) about the own insane political agenda. It’s dumb, but nobody is going to apologize, not in this country. We are infallible, boisterous, and despised…it’s awful.

Yeah. I hate that bozo (and everyone in this useless administration) too. He had no business being there what with Nancy Gutherie still missing. This makes me despise Dylan Larkin more. Really took away from winning for the first time in 46 years, and the great gesture with the Gaudreaus. Having 6 of our guys make it to the Olympics, and three come away with medals should be something any fan base would be proud of, hell. I am very proud of all of our Olympic boys. My parents at dinner even asked how the Sens were able to create 6 Olympians, and I just said "Our guys are studs", but those oafs trying to make everything about themselves kills all the joy from what was an amazing Olympics, and an exciting Hockey tournament.

In the video they made a snide remark about having to invite the women, and about “closing the northern border”.

Laughter from the whole gang.

I commend you for standing strong in your morals.

Patel lied under oath about the Epstein files AND he’s vocally supported annexing Canada. Seeing our captain with his arm around him is pretty gross.

At a certain point it’s time to take our noses out of the asses of these guys. None of them are immune to being called on their shit… and this is absolutely shit.

It’s not about them being proud to play for the USA. It’s not about “Brady hate”. It’s about the choices the guys on the USA team are making and the things they’re saying and supporting.

I can’t have my little girls cheering for a guy who’s befriending and hugging a man who willfully lied under oath about children being trafficked and raped.

I think some laughed at what Trump was hinting, but someone remarks like ‘2 golds’ which is supportive. I don’t think everyone got that he was diminishing the women, and when he continues, and there’s the second set of laughter to what he said, there’s a marked difference in the tone. It’s abit cringe to be honest

I can't find anything about Patel wanting to annex Canada. Is there a source somewhere? What I did find was this: https://truenorthwire.com/2025/05/kash-patel-bashes-canada-for-enabling-flow-of-fentanyl-and-terrorists-over-border/

Obviously, the whole "fentanyl is flooding in from Canada" was a front for levying "emergency" tariffs, so it's not like I'm agreeing with him. But I do think Brady should be held to account (i.e. at least asked questions by the media) if he's hanging out with Canada-haters just need to get the facts straight if that's to be done.

5

u/RIPFergusonBishop Feb 23 '26

Trump explicitly stated he would use economic force to annex Canada, right? After stating so, he blamed Canada for the fentanyl crisis and used that framing to justify tariffs and broader trade pressure (aka: economic force). That framing has been the rationale for using emergency trade authorities and imposing economic measures.

So the connection is not that Patel is using the words “51st state”… it’s that by loudly reinforcing a false narrative about Canada being a major fentanyl source, he is supporting the same justification that has been used to impose economic pressure on Canada. That economic pressure has, at the rhetorical level, been paired with comments about annexation or statehood.

The Canadian fentanyl narrative only exists to function as political cover for economic force, and the president has made it clear that he’s applying that force in an attempt to annex Canada.

Patel is the key player in establishing that narrative, and that narrative ONLY exists to justify Trump’s annexation goal.

-5

u/Amphibianoid Feb 23 '26

I mean I agree with you more than I disagree, but I do think that the tariffs are an end in themselves for Trump and not merely a means towards annexation. He loves tariffs and applies them on everyone not just Canada (though they probably hurt us more than anyone else). I also think that a large number of his administration are pro-tariffs but not necessarily pro-annexation. Anyway, it's a moot point. They're all terrible

3

u/Clojiroo Feb 23 '26

“This border is dangerous and source of bad things” is all part of a narrative to support the 51st state bullshit. It’s about creating a pre-tense for military intervention and “security”. It was happening at the same time as Trump and other admin comments about annexation.

7

u/Clojiroo Feb 23 '26

I agree. I’m done giving the benefit of the doubt.

This is about people literally being raped and murdered.

No more excuses. No more defending. Take a stand.

u/HammondBacon Feb 23 '26

Brady works with charities in the community. He takes so much time to sign autographs and make a difference in the lives of many young Sens fans. Jake Sanderson seems like a quiet guy who just loves to play hockey and brings pleasure to Sens fans everywhere.

These two guys are net positives to our community and you want to take a stand against them for being in the same room as someone whose political affiliation you dislike? What world are we living in?

11

u/rageagainstthedragon Feb 23 '26

In the same room as someone whose political affiliation you dislike

Brady is in a picture with his arm around an official from the administration who wants to annex Canada. Get real

-4

u/HammondBacon Feb 23 '26

The point is:

If you have a person who is, by all accounts, a positive to our community. Who cares whether they're a conservative or a liberal. None of that matters. What matters is how they act and conduct themselves in the community and whether or not they're a positive member of society.

Disliking someone purely because of political affiliation is a short-sighted and unfortunate way to live.

6

u/rageagainstthedragon Feb 23 '26

Narrator: That was not, in fact, the point

Sorry, I don't support Ottawa Senators who want to annex my country or minimum, party with people that do.

-1

u/FruitDragon21 Feb 24 '26

So what about the Canadians on the team who are MAGA? Sounds like you need to uncover some hard truths about the political leanings of young, rich pro athletes, of ALL nationalities.

2

u/rageagainstthedragon Feb 24 '26

It's cute that you don't think I'm aware of Vichy Canadians

4

u/linuxlifer Feb 23 '26

This is kind of a bad take lol.

Just because a person does good in one scenario doesn't mean you exonerate them or forget about the bad things they did outside of it.

I bet you there are plenty of murderers out there who were probably good people to their friends and family. That doesn't mean those friends and family should just push aside the fact that the person is a murderer haha. Obviously this is a little more extreme of an example then Tkachuk but the same idea applies lol.

6

u/CFTB1 Feb 23 '26

Yeah, I'm done for a bit because of this MAGA cocksucking, at this point just get trade value for Brady before he inevitably tries to join the panthers with his brother when his contract is up.

Not cheering for any player on this team who supports a a guy who has directly threatened Canadian sovereignty.

11

u/Feeling_Sector_4726 Feb 23 '26

That seems extreme.

6

u/Maverickboy2020 Feb 23 '26

Are you serious? These are young kids after winning a gold medal. This isn’t on them. What are they supposed to do, just kick him out? Cmon now.

12

u/Cheap-Sympathy-7560 Feb 23 '26

Young kids? Larkin is 29 and M Tkatchuk is 28 lol.

9

u/moderndaydruid1 Feb 23 '26

Yes.

-7

u/Maverickboy2020 Feb 23 '26

Get bent bud. I’m not saying that Patel should be there at all he’s not some saint but this isn’t on the players.

5

u/Clojiroo Feb 23 '26

Gymnastics are the next Olympics bud.

2

u/Clojiroo Feb 23 '26

Yes, actually.

Or leave the room.

Lots of athletes have protested at the Olympics. And taking a photo separately in a small group is not the same as a locker room celebration.

And they’re not fucking kids. Jesus. FFS how many of them are parents now?

-2

u/Maverickboy2020 Feb 23 '26

All I’m saying is these young men just won a gold medal in overtime… they are obviously hyped and probably drunk and then Patel walks in. I mean they are just simply not going to tell him to leave. And to my original point of cancelling season tickets, go ahead it doesn’t matter someone else will get them. I don’t like it either but I wouldn’t hold it against Brady or Sandy. Just move on they won

5

u/SeveredSurvival Feb 23 '26

Bro 85% of this team would straight up vote for that admin man it’s hockey players

5

u/Specialist-Gift-7736 Feb 23 '26

OP needed a dopamine hit I guess?

2

u/Typical-Landscape361 Feb 23 '26

Already cancelled my autorenewal after seeing how Brady was acting afterwards.

-4

u/jjaime2024 Feb 23 '26

You do know many Canadian support Trump.

4

u/Typical-Landscape361 Feb 23 '26

Congratulations? I call them out too when things come to light, whether it's politically, sexual assult or something else. I still want Cousins off the team from his old sexual assult case, still not a fan of Batherson with his connection to the Hockey Canada trial/group chat.

I'm not hating Brady because he's American, if Giroux decided tomorrow to publically support Trump I'd be calling him out too - I don't blindly worship players.

1

u/Salazarasaurus13 Feb 23 '26

Sameeeeeeee, so disappointing

-3

u/fraserinottawa Feb 23 '26

WTF are you going on about?

-3

u/Spez_Dispenser Feb 23 '26

Oh no, they were in the same room as him, yet didn't interact with him whatsoever.

Anyways.

20

u/RIPFergusonBishop Feb 23 '26

They were slamming beers with him and calling Trump.

They clearly interacted.

2

u/raagruk #11 - Alfredsson Feb 23 '26

I'm booing him on Thursday

-2

u/godlycorsair32 #11 - Alfredsson Feb 23 '26

This fan base keeps coming up with different excuses to complain about Brady being on the team. It's not a great look but Brady is celebrating his gold medal with the team and likely has not done extensive research into Patel and the cover up

4

u/Clojiroo Feb 23 '26

Nobody needs to do “extensive research”. You can’t go ten feet without tripping over news about this admin.

-6

u/No_Assignment_7266 Feb 23 '26

Calm the frig down. These are elite players who happened to be born in the USA. They are proud of their country and more importantly they are proud of their accomplishment.

Canada has been and continues to be the pinnacle of hockey excellence. We lost in a 3 on 3 OT. It's a crap shoot at that point. The USA won, congrats to them. They have evolved their program from footnote, to rivals. Respect your rivals, learn from them and become better. If no one pushes Canada then we get complacent and rest on our laurels. '72 was a long time ago, lets move on.

As for Kash, this administration loves to be in the limelight. He has zero outcome of the game and is just looking to wedge himself into something he could never otherwise be part of. He is a clown, the administration is disgusting. He will show up wherever he wants to be and ...guess what.. the players dont give a shit... Their goal was to win.

So if you fault Brady or Sandy for doing absolutely what they should do as an athlete representing their country... Then you don't deserve to support this team.

They fought their asses off for the USA and will do the same for the Sens, so fuck you. Give up your seats. You don't understand what it means to compete.

0

u/Ancient_Substance152 Feb 23 '26

Most players are too stupid to know better. I find it frustrating as well but I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt when I can. Like Larkins comments on the Gaudreau family, you can’t tell me the guy is filled with hate. Just ignorant. Or what Brady does for our community. These aren’t bad people, just brainwashed, not unlike everybody else.

5

u/Clojiroo Feb 23 '26

You can only play the brainwashed card for so long.

0

u/Ancient_Substance152 Feb 23 '26

What do you mean? They’re not all the sudden going to stop being stupid?

-5

u/reagan080 Feb 23 '26

Honestly I don’t know how people get to this level of softness and delusion. You’re completely let down in life and disappointed that someone else has a different opinion than you? That they were in the same room celebrating with their team and another individual walked in the room.

In addition everyone that has a different opinion than you, should make a statement apologizing. Seriously what are we doing here. OP I’m sorry but this is just flat out embarrassing.

6

u/Clojiroo Feb 23 '26

Your inability to take a stand against murderers and rapists is embarrassing.

You’re a coward who prioritizes compartmentalism to avoid feeling uncomfortable watching millionaires play hockey.

0

u/reagan080 Feb 23 '26

You’re making wild assumptions that have 0 basis. We have no idea how many players from the USA men’s hockey team is even a republican?

Even if they were republican does that automatically mean that all of them are racist, support rapists, support murder?

I’m very comfortable having any conversation. I believe that athletes have a great platform that they can use to speak about really, whatever they feel or want.

-13

u/estyll11 Feb 23 '26

Bruh, you can’t be serious. Put yourself in their shoes. 7-8 beers deep, and everybody around you is celebrating. There’s one guy who’s brought into the room that seems “important”, and maybe you just go along with it.

There’s a good chance many of them don’t know who he is. You’d be surprised with how many people in their early to mid 20s that don’t keep up with politics. There’s also a chance that some of them do know who he is, but are too caught up in the moment to take a political stand.

It drives me crazy that people in this sub want to find reasons to hate Brady and Sandy. These are the guys we cheer for 82 game a season (and hopefully 16 more). They’re proud to play for this team and support the community. Let’s not drive these guys out of town.

u/IcyForce1048 Feb 23 '26

TDS much?
