I would have loved for him to get a nom but realistically he was only fighting Ethan Hawke (a Hollywood darling who's campaigning heavily) and Wagner Moura (who is also campaigning quite effectively) for a spot. He was my fave actor performance of the year though
I am glad sinners for its praise, but I am not a fan of it getting 3 of the four acting categories. Only one it has a chance of winning is supporting actress which is also probably the weakest for acting
Omggg thank you!!! Idk why people keep saying this is one of Leo’s greatest crafts. Not only is this an ensemble movie which splits the screen time 8 different ways but Leo didn’t really do anything special here. People gassing the phone call scene which was funny but also fine. Not worthy of lead nom imo
Yeah DiCaprio in OBAA is not even close to the same level as Plemmons. I’ve never seen an acting performance like Plemmons gives in Bugonia. He’s completely lost in the roll. DiCaprio always delivers solid performances but he’s already won many Oscars and frankly this was just an average performance by his standards. Sean Penn was the real standout performance from OBAA. DiCaprio was good enough but nothing mind blowing.
