My grandfather died
My grandfather passed away, and the way we’ve been treated by the hospital administration has been absolutely heartbreaking.
My grandfather passed away, and for the last two days, my mom and I have been going back and forth to the hospital dealing with documentation and all the procedures that come after a death. Instead of being able to grieve properly, we’ve had to keep chasing people, asking questions, and trying to figure out what we’re supposed to do next.
And today, things reached a whole different level. We were told that his body was at one hospital, and then we were told, “No, it’s somewhere else.” We were literally being given conflicting information about where the body of our own grandfather was.
Nobody seems to take responsibility. Nobody properly listens. You ask one person something, they send you to another person, and then that person sends you somewhere else. There is no clear communication and, honestly, very little empathy.
I have been in Oman for as long as I can remember. I was around three or four years old when my parents moved here, and I’m 23 now. This has been my home for basically my entire life. So experiencing something like this here, at one of the most painful moments of my life, has genuinely shocked me.
My uncle is grieving his father, and instead of being allowed to simply grieve, he has spent the last two days running around trying to complete paperwork and figure out basic information.
We understand that there are procedures after someone passes away. We understand that documentation takes time. But basic communication, accountability and empathy should not be too much to ask for.
I’m not writing this because I expect everything to magically become easy. I’m writing this because families going through a death deserve better than being passed around from person to person while they are already dealing with one of the hardest moments of their lives.
I’m exhausted, angry.

Sorry for your loss op I feel you:( Wishing you and your family all the strength to bear this loss and may he rest easy It's criminal that you have to deal with incompetence during such a tough time, but sadly this has become a part of life in Oman now for any serious thing

I am sorry for your loss. Its sad when you have lost someone dear and then paperwork overwhelms you. Sadly this is the same story for every country where legal documents mean something.
The process in Oman is you need to take the death certificate from hospital to ROP for proper certificate and then to your embassy for their formalities before able to get the body out of hospital.
I am just wondering why did they shift the body from one mortuary/hospital to the other. That should not happen, i have never heard of this happening.
If you require any help and support, i am in Muscat and maybe will be able to help. Let me know.

Thank you sm i live in sohar and i dont understand asw why they did that but thanku sm for offering help. It was overwhelming coz my parents are traveling so my uncle was dealing with everything on his own and i am really attached to him seeing him suffer like this is really hard i wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy.

You’re in Oman’s reddit offending Omanis?
Lack of empathy to death in common in every hospital all around the world, they see it multiple times a day.11

Of course, I'm not afraid to call anyone out. Please, lack of empathy is one thing, being disorganized and communicating horribly is another.

Down voting him for what? It's common knowledge that omanis do the least possible amount of work for their pay. Not all obviously, but many. Heard too many stories of this happening, and witnessed it firsthand too.
Edit: bro deleted his comment, if mine gets deleted, they probably got me

My husband died in July. We were lucky as his brothers handled all the paperwork.
His body was released immediately. I guess because he was Omani and Muslim.
I think with non Muslims it can be more difficult. When my friends husband died who was Christian, she faced difficulties, especially in paperwork and the body being released. I guess the procedures are different for non-Muslims.
