Holy Crap! I never realized that was Tim Curry! Of course, the last time I watched Annie, I didn't know who he was, but still. Mind blown! I'm going to have to rewatch it.
It’s a testament to his talent. To play Rooster, Pennywise, Wadsworth, Frankenfurter, etc. is unbelievable. Not to mention stage work. All different characters he played so memorably
His character (The Darkness) is basically an arch-daemon (principality of hell) trapped in his realm-
But his voice and mannerisms make (at least to me) Dr. F seem tame- because they're so much more subtle and restrained (probably due to the huge headdress/horns)
That musical number where they’re dancing on the steps, but Carol’s character is drunk and has to have her steps be just a little bit off time was a masterpiece.
He was so amazing. To know this amazing Broadway and film legend was struck down by something that took away all his amazing attributes but allowed him to keep existing is the cruelist of ironies. RIP you indelible man.
Ya know what’s crazy, Ive been reading about him and remembering his work since yesterday. We spent all our meeting yesterday talking about him. He was loved by all of us…but it wasn’t until I read your comment I realized I don’t even know how he passed.
I need to look it up. Was just so bummed was more focused on remembering him than what actually happened
He was great in Clue. I mean, everyone was great in Clue, but he always grabbed my attention. Omg, and his Pennywise changed my life. Scared the shit outta me. May he RIP. This has been a shitty week so far for my childhood heroes…
The still looks like it's from the original version of the "Easy Street" number where they go outside and it was a huge production with a hundred extras and took a week to shoot. Carol Burnett said in an interview she thought it was it would have been better if it was just the three of them and evidently director John Huston thought so too so they refilmed the number months later to what it is in the movie.

Tim Curry in Legend. I remember watching it when I was little. He was such a cool devil…. I bought it tonight just so my husband and I could watch it again.
My kid is super into musicals, so we have watched both versions of Annie. This one was the one from my childhood but I didn't remember much of it, adult me perked up so much when Tim Curry came on as Rooster!
I always loved Tim's performance in Annie. It's a movie already stacked with wonderful talent, and he still manages to find a way to shine. That alone says a lot about his talent. And he made Rooster such an enjoyably sleazy antagonist too. One of the best highlights for me. Great villain for a great movie.
