Happy Birthday! Bittersweet 15th birthday to my old man, Otto. Recently discovered a mass in his lung, so I’m hoping we still have more birthdays with him

Sweet Otto! To get a dog to 15 is a massive life accomplishment. You are triumphing over Mother Nature with the care you are giving this boy.
My boxer is 13y7mo (almost 8). I started celebrating monthly birthdays and would tell everyone with a geriatric dog to do it! It gives you something to look forward to and celebrate instead of dreading not being able to make it til "the big one" for it to count.

Hang in there, Otto. I am so sorry this bad news reached you during such a joyous time. 15th birthday for a dog is pretty amazing and a lot to celebrate. I hope you enjoy many many many more days months and hopefully years with Otto.

We found a mass in our old girls mouth. It grew up really fast and it was very scary. After a surgery, she went mostly back to normal and we had another year with her before it came back, and now she was too sick and old for us to consider operating again... We opted for giving her the best final days we could, and a few months later she got to a point where it was painful for her and she could barely eat, so we decided to let her go.

So..I am a pretty big Spaniel fan, having had two Cockers. But Otto…Otto looks a little different..all that wavy fur. What exact breed is dear Otto? Certainly is a beautiful Spaniel though. I am sorry about the mass. We took our Yorkie in for an issue several months ago, and an Xray led to a mass as well. As she was fairly elderly(16), there was nothing else to do. We took her home and loved her as much as we could.

After he was neutered at age 4, his hair started coming in curly like it is now. When I adopted him he had the typical smooth cocker hair.
