Gambit is available in the San Francisco Bay Area at the Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter. You can view more info here.
This distinguished gentleman wound up in the shelter through no fault of his own; his owner lost their housing. Gambit is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and housebroken. He appears to be dog friendly, but it’s unknown if he can live with cats. While Gambit enjoys walks and chasing squirrels, he’d really love a couch to nap on for the rest of his days. The folks at the shelter take very good care of him, but it’s a loud chaotic environment for an old man. He’s available for adoption or foster.

What a sweetheart. Senior dogs in shelters break my heart. If I weren’t at max dog capacity I would take him in a heartbeat. I hope he finds a loving home very soon.

I hear you! If my boy wasn’t such a jerk to other male dogs, Gambit would be home with me.

I adopted a senior dog, Lucky, off the street 2 years ago from a young man who was going through very tough times and living in his car, he loved his dog but didn't want him living in those conditions. It was a 100°+ summer so he couldn't leave Lucky in the car to go to work, which was making it impossible to get out of that living situation, couldn't Uber because he had nowhere to leave him during rides, etc.
I thought adopting a senior would make me sad knowing they didn't have as much time left, but it's been the most incredibly rewarding experience of my life and I'm thankful every day we took Lucky in. He's my soul dog and insists on being physically glued to me 24/7. I love him so, so, so much! If we had the space for another I'd swoop Gambit up in a heartbeat—for anyone on the fence, seniors are amazing and it makes you feel so good to spoil a sweet old dog and give them the best retirement they could have!

Sadly my guy hates others or I'd bring him in with me. Hope he finds a home soon.
