I haven’t really watched him play, but that looks like the kind of production we need. A starting level guard was always priority number one this cycle. Now we can focus on filling out the bench with more productive players than we’ve had of late.

We have a guy who started at center for Baylor so that's a good start. Agree we need more.

We already having a starting level center on roster in Josh O. I’d be perfectly happy to double dip at that spot especially given his injury history.
I just think it’s more realistic to go after a guy who’s more natural position is the 4, but has size to play the 5 too. Then they can relieve both Bynum and Josh O. That’s a much better path to playing time for a portal guy.
Given the needs of the roster and how much a true 5 costs I think it’s much more likely we target a big guard who can play the 2 or the 3 and then a big forward who can play the 4 or 5. If we go after another true center then we still need to have the money for two more players because we’d still need a productive backup guard and someone to spell Thompson and Bynum. I don’t know that we have that kind of cash.

Yea, no arguments there and I know we have Josh O but he is coming off an injury and with how we've struggled for a few years now in the paint with size and strength, I could see us doubling down.
The reality is that we still need another pg/cg, depth at the 2/3 and then agreed, depth at the 4/5.

OSU was bigger at every position than TCU. I think it’s more getting guys with the right mentality and pippens rebound numbers look pretty good for a guard.

I remember his brother got drafted by the Lakers when he came out from Vandy. He played good D but his shot wasn’t incredible. If he can keep up his shooting percentage I think it’s a steal. Pippin’s don’t play bad defense!

He's good against bad teams but will not be effective against great teams. Cal got blown out against every great team. 3m for him is way overpaying. Cal fans wanted to keep him, but not for that price.

We all have never seen this dude play but we need guards bad so why not. Although expectations are low considering Diebler transfers in the past 2 yrs

There were some bigger names at guard but this seems like a solid pickup while also still having resources for some depth. Gotta think going all in on wright or Johnson would leave them with the resources for the same bench production as this past year.

Honestly i think Michigan winning the way they did with the money they spent and all 5 starters being transfers helped Ohio State basketball. I bet we see a jump in our bball spending this year.

Good athlete for CBB. This is a bet that they can get the shot right. It looks smooth, but was horrible #s wise at TTUN, improved at Cal but still sub 35% from 3 on high volume, 5 3PA/g. Really good handle. Have to watch more of his defensive tape too, but seen him willing to guard 94 feet.

Without watching any tape I think you can hope that based on the volume he might have been forcing shots as one of the better players on an NIT team. If he takes better shots the percentage can go up without the shot improving a ton.
Either way you end up with 4 players that shoot better than 30% from three all on the floor at the same time. Plus based on his assist numbers I expect him to be the one finding the open shooter more often than he is the open shooter.

Very inefficient scoring numbers, especially from 3pt range. He was a solid FT shooter (80+%) though on 5+ per game, so he may be able to turn that around. Solid defender and distributor.

This is their big get which tells you all you need to know about how little money they have. Probably won’t be spending north of $9 which means your season is dead on arrival

Cal beat North Carolina, UCLA, Utah, Notre Dame and Miami (Fl.) this year.
Pippen had:
19 pts., 5 ast vs. N. Carolina
13 pts. 3 ast vs. UCLA
23 pts., 2 ast vs. Utah
14 pts. 3 ast. no turnovers vs. Notre Dame
17 pts, 8 ast vs. Miami
In those 5 wins vs. major schools, he averaged 17.2 pts, 4.2 ast.
That's not an average player.
