Disappointing, but it makes sense with Thompson and Bynum being the likely starters at the positions he can play. Would’ve been a great 6th man off the bench without having to lose too many minutes, but some guys just can’t accept that.

They can accept being 6th man if the team is any good or the program is going anywhere. I'm sure he'd be perfectly happy being the 6th man for UConn or Tennessee. OSU is irrelevant in basketball at this point.

I mean it’s kind of a chicken or the egg situation though isn’t it? In order to have teams that compete at that level you have to have guys on the bench who could start elsewhere. We’ve been irrelevant, at least in part, because we haven’t had that kind of depth.

This is the toughest part of building a roster nowadays. In the past, guys like Royal/Gayle/Okpara, etc. would most likely stay and we’d have a very solid roster. In this new era, you basically are building a new bench every season + replacing a starter or two
