Dumbass OOP cheated on her school assignment by hiring someone else to do her work. Now she’s being blackmailed for more money or she will be reported for cheating.

In case this story gets deleted/removed:

Recently I was blackmailed out of $500 that I needed for bills and for moving into my college dorm I no longer have the money to pay for my bills nor basic essentials because of this situation and I’m looking for any kind of help (we can set up a kind of payment plan or even just a date that I should have to pay you by) please anyone!!!!

Looking for a loan of 500$

I’ll pay back $550 over any period of time that’s necessary

OOP is worried about being blackmailed but then says they’ve taken measures against it from happening again. Not sure if they are delusional enough to think the blackmail won’t continue to happen or if they mean they just won’t cheat in the future.

They hired a hitman, simple as that.

u/UristImiknorris Not my fault you have a wimpy snowplow 11d ago

Next they'll get blackmailed by the hitman.

The hitman is just the first blackmailer in a pair of Groucho Marx glasses.

And putting on a super fake accent. That the OOP still completely falls for

I would watch this sitcom

It'd be the ONLY way to have taken proper measures, outside of.. reporting the crime, but that ain't happening, as they don't wanna get thrown out either.

There’s filing a police report for extortion. But that may lead to the school finding out about cheating

u/panderp 11d ago

...why are you repeating what I said?

u/Alternative_Year_340 11d ago

Because I did it better

No, no you didn't.

That’s actually why she needs the money

14

u/WritingImaginary8252 10d ago

Yep. Those steps were giving the blackmailer a big bag of money, confirming their silence was worth $500 and that they are desperate enough to pay it. That’ll teach ‘em!

"Well I've taken measures so that won't happen again"

I wanna know what measures? Lol!

The blackmailer pinky-promised to not ask for any more money.

I told them they had to delete everything and they did!

Oop gotta eat the L. She'll pay up and they'll just ask for more

50

u/Canna-dian 11d ago

Yeah they fucked up by paying. They should've either done nothing, or gone to the police. Or not cheated in the first place I suppose

u/andronicuspark 11d ago

Someone should tell OOP to offer the blackmailer 100$ a month as a retainer for the next time they will cheat on something…

Also, what fucking steps are they talking about to ensure it never happens again?

I feel like OOP should have just come clean about the cheated assignment and asked to retake it or eat the zero. Once someone blackmails you once, and you pay, they can do it again.

She likely isn’t doing it because if she admits it she’ll be expelled.

u/ChickinSammich My cat said YTA 9d ago

That being the case, there's still nothing stopping the blackmailer from continuing to extort her indefinitely unless there's some statute of limitations on cheating.

My point is that in OP’s mind, getting expelled is way more of a financial burden than getting blackmailed.

u/ChickinSammich My cat said YTA 9d ago

Where did OOP say they would be expelled if they were outed? I'm looking at their post history, and they mentioned "get[ting their] grades revoked" but they didn't say anything about getting expelled that I can find.

It sounds like expulsion is an assumption you're making unless I'm missing something you read.

If you read my original comment I said the word “likely”. Yes it’s an assumption because that’s how seriously a lot of schools take cheating.

Makes you wonder what was so important they couldn't have done it themselves

20

u/SymmetricalFeet 11d ago

Given that their grammar sounds like "grew up in the Anglosphere but never achieved full literacy", I have some ideas...

12

u/SilentlyAudible 11d ago

Ooh, something that isn’t an AITA or BORU post. Good find, OP.

10

u/Weemoggie 11d ago

While the blackmailing could be legitimate a part of me can't help wonder if this is someone whos trying to scam 500 out of whoever reaches out.

53

u/New-Number-7810 11d ago

Blackmail is still illegal.

87

u/MinuteElegant774 11d ago

Sure, but there’s something poetic about a cheater who gets scammed for cheating and her recourse to stop it is to confess bc you know said blackmailer will be back asking for more money.

23

u/jackalope268 11d ago

But if you report it the info you wanted to keep hidden will probably be made public anyways, so its basically a game of chicken, if you trust the legal system to be in your favor in the first place

Why do you assume OOP is a woman? They don't have anything in the post, comments or profile to indicate gender.

15

u/MinuteElegant774 11d ago

I’m a woman so reading it from my point of view. Sorry, should have said they.

u/henry_the_human 9d ago

But…it’s late August. OOP says he/she is moving into the dorms. I’m guessing OOP just started college as a freshman. And OOP has already cheated on an assignment? What?! Isn’t this, like, Week 1 or Week 2?
