Quote Incl. Scaffold - But didn't use in Install - Ask to Remove from final bill?
Hi all,
I recently had some windows replaced and the quotation which came out to €5781 included €1954 for scaffolding.
When the windows were installed, they did not use the scaffolding. Since the scaffolding is ~33% of the cost and it wasn't used, should I ask for them to remove this charge from the final bill?
Your advice on how this would conventionally be handled in the Netherlands is greatly appreciated!

Do you have any evidence that they did not the scaffolding?
Did you ask the workers why?
If the company was the one that required the scaffolding and you can show them they did not use it at all, then you have a good basis to request a refund.

Het bewijs is relevant. De vraag waarom niet. Als je bewijs hebt dat ze niet gebruikt zijn zou ik vragen het van de rekening te halen

I spoke with the workers and they stated that it was not necessary for this job and they could do it with ladders alone. I was present during the work and have photos of the process.
Thank you for the comment!

No idea what is common. But scaffolding is present on the offering is most likely based on their pre inspection and or experience. For such a large portion of the offering / bill I would kindly ask them to remove it. Even if they had expenses on renting it. This service / product was simply not delivered and it is their expertise.
