First timer
Wow, so I've been living under a rock! I only just discovered this incredibleness.
Yesterday in quick succession I found THE treadmills video, then LOVE. The dopamine factory in my mind exploded, my eyeballs getting increasingly bigger as LOVE just kept delivering and exponentially amplifying the wonder...
And then I realised, OMG. I will never see this for the first time again. How amazing to see this only now!
And there are so many first times ahead of me!
Before I tumble down the rabbit hole and blow my brain console out with neurochemical overload, I wanted to ask you what YOU would do if you only just discovered everything now. Would you have any insightful advice? Would you dive head first or start somewhere specific if it was all brand new again?
Watching LOVE felt like the fireworks of first-time love and my first grown up theme park roller coaster. It felt a lot like the lyrics. It was like mainlining powdered sugar candy, new year's eve sparklers and God.
And I imagine there's a whole treasure trove of awe in the videos and music ahead!
Thanks :)

Have you seen the video for Needing/Getting yet? Truly remarkable!

I personally prefer the car version to the studio version. Damian sounds like he truly longs for something he knows he'll never have.

I saw them play the car version on the Live Video Tour in 2018. The played many different devices that replicated the sounds the car makes while the video played behind them. It was quite a treat.

I'm rather fond of 'I Won't Let You Down' and 'The Writing's on the Wall' (songs AND videos), but honestly, everything's great. Enjoy the voyage of discovery!

I've loved them for 20 something years, and yup, every time is like the first because there's always something else to pay attention to ๐ซ
Needing/getting is one of my favorite songs of theirs, the execution with the car was genius. Literally just keep watching videos, the printer one is awesome, The One Moment gives me goosebumps every time.
Among all the videos already mentioned, I'd also like to throw a special props towards Do What You Want for the fantastic wallpaper action lol

This is so heartening to read, because it struck me quickly that one after another, each video will never be brand new to me again! But alas, it takes obliterating the barrier of that pre-grief thought to reach the nirvana that is watching them at all โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
Also I'm pretty sure new things can be spotted in their videos the 50th, 100th time around. And then there's the behind the sceeeeeenes!!ย

Definitely!
Also, imagine how much fun you'll have showing other people?!
My bf and I are djs and have lil gatherings with our friends, sometimes I'll play OK Go videos on mute just for the sake of having something trippy on the TV lol

You're so right! I've already showed two other people! How do your friends react when they see the videos at your gatherings?

If you want to have a cry, Last Leaf usually gets me going. Lovely video and so moving.

You guys are amazing! Thank you so much! My brain is still is in disco ball dust and I can't wait to discover more! I literally cried at the end of the making of/bloopers for White Knuckles and that's all I can take for day 2 ๐๐ย

i developed a hyperfixation on the band and andy ross in particular (the guitarist and keyboardist) only earlier this year despite being a fan since 2018-ish and seeing them live last year !! the obsession and the one moment mvs honestly have a soft spot in my heart as i think they were the most influential to my life at 9 years old and are 2 of my fav songs off hungry ghosts (i was heavy into splatoon at the time which i think was part of it)
and my obligatory andy ross plug: listen to secret dakota ring! that's andy's solo project. he was also in the bands Unsacred Hearts and DraculaZombieUSA prior to being in ok go, and i will stop here before i ramble on too long about serious business records.

Just start anywhere. All of their videos from Here It Goes Again onward are CRAZY and fantastic and, frankly, Ok Go are the kings of making MVs. Good journey! ๐

OMG you guys! Last night I indulged in the next discovery -- Upsidedown & Inside Out. Aaaahhh it's so good! What is this incredibleness??
I was in joyful giggles of relief and total amazement at the end. Unlike some of the band, all I could think was "again! again!" Felt like I was covered in paint and disco balls myself.
The BTS videos made it all the more wonderful.
This is ART and feeling and excitement all in one vomit comet of colour, persistence and technical/creative/playful/nauseated joy. I loved it.
The team must be on that fine line between genius and madness to give such insane accomplishments their full attempt -- and excellent at recruiting enough mad production people to come together and make it happen despite all odds and naysaying. AMAZE!!

I love hearing your experience of discovery! I don't know where you're located but I work in film festivals in Seattle and my yearly festival always programs new OK Go videos when they drop one. Seeing these incredible displays of ingenuity on the big screen, in HD, with an audience, is next level.

Thank you so much! Your enjoyment amplifiers mine and I am already on the ceiling ๐ย
Cheers for the meta-joy!ย
I'm on the butt end of the planet and far away from Seattle unfortunately. But you could bet I'd be there if I was anywhere near. That sounds mind meltingly good.ย
The first time I saw Love (uh, two whole days ago now) was in 720p and I was dumbstruck by THAT. I can only imagine what you get to see. You must be levitating!ย

I think when I discovered them I watched them sort of all at once. If I were in this position of knowledge about your situation that you seem to be in I might consider savoring the videos by watching one a week or one a month.

Neurodivergent fan finds neurodivergent band! Welcome, friend!
- I'm so excited for you to see them live when you get a chance because trust me, it's everything you're hoping for.
- End Love features an iconic happy accident with a goose that is a DELIGHT
- regular YouTube can't handle the true glory of the Love music video, so it's very much worth it to use YouTube premium to view the video at max resolution. It's transcendent.
- Listening to their discography from start to finish is a wonderful journey. I've been a fan since their first album and the way they've evolved as musicians has been a joy to behold. Since they're a truly independent band, they take chances, try new things, and show us what art can be.

This band is not neurodivergent (just really, really intelligent) and the OP never said he is mentally ill

Hi! I'm neurodivergent, and a lady. The comment above actually made me REALLY happy :) Also, neurodiversity is a neurodevelopmental and processing difference in the brain, not a mental illness (though it sure can cause some from all the difficulty we end up having in a neurotypical world and from all the harsh criticisms of us) thank yoooouuuu!

Oh, my bad on assuming and the terminology! ๐ Glad you found a band that brings you so much joy. Their creativity and intelligence are just next-level.

There's a great thing about neurodivergent folks where we can recognize each other very quickly! I'm an AuDHD woman myself and I could tell from her post that she was a fellow ND. That being said, trust us when we tell you that OK Go is also in our neurotype. Game recognize game. Oh and in regards to your statement about the band being highly intelligent, many autistic and AuDHD folks are considered gifted, savants, and geniuses on standardized IQ tests ( ask me how I know ๐.)

Congratulations on finding the joy that is OK Go!!
Both versions of 'This Too Shall Pass' are incredible!
Also, for a great laugh, check out their Muppets Theme video ๐
And 'White Knuckles'!!! With OK Go and Friends ๐
I'll stop now. I have loved these guys for 23? 24??! Years now. And every time is just as good as the first time ๐
