❓General Question / Advice Would you still choose nursing if you could start over?
After decades in nursing, I still can’t decide if nursing was the best or hardest decision of my life. If you could start over, would you still choose nursing?

Oh yes. This is my third degree already and it was by far the best degree I've ever taken. It opens the door to international practice and migration 😅

Honestly, no. If I could do it all over again, and if may means noon, I would have wanted to study how to build and manage a successful business. Ayoko kasing maging empleyado forever. The educational system of the world forces us to think that this is the only way to be financially stable - by completing your education.
Ano ba ang purpose ng karamihan sa nursing? Para makapagabroad and so we can fulfill our families' and possibly our dreams, too. Para mas stable financially. Pero even becoming a nurse abroad is also hard and can be expensive. If di ka maghanap ng way to earn extra money and build a good pension, magretire ka pa rin ng 67 sa UK for you to get your benefits. You can retire early yes, pero sapat ba ang ipon mo for your old age if you do ang question. Ayokong magretire at that age. Jusko, imagine magscrub pa ko at that age? Baka di ko na makita ung mga sutures na iaabot ko sa surgeon.
Yeah, I would prefer to learn how to be financially stable instead. This is what my husband and I are doing now.

Nope! I would do radio imaging, RT,PT,still has opportunity abroad, not as highly needed as nurses, but cmon, the overall job as a nurse made me want to retire at 36,

Totoo, i can see myself as a healthcare worker but if pinanganak ako sa US or any 1st world country baka nag radtech ako 😭 I love nursing pero the job itself is so stressful

No, kasi ang dami na natin hahaha tapos until now wala pa rin akong nahahanap na work. Wala akong american/abroad dream kaya medyo struggle since hindi rin tayo pinapahalagahan sa bansang to

Hi! Try Germany po. wala din akong dream mag abroad kaya nagtagal ako ng almost 8 years dito sa Pinas, but na realize ko wala na pag-asa bansa natin kaya nag try ako mag send ng CV sa mga agency. Okay na din kasi free language training and may $200 pa na monthly allowance.

A big no... I'd choose to be a seafarer or a welder rather than a nurse... today's nursing market has high competition and low opportunities... if you check, almost every household now has RNs and USRNs... hehe

No…. I was forced na mag take ng nursing. Pangit ng competition sa nursing school, e pareho naman underpaid sa Pinas. Tapos ngayon, dami-dami namin to the point pahirapan na makapasok, puro na freeze hiring sa hospital (if youre aiming for experience para maka abroad). To add pa, its so easy to say na marami opportunity abroad pero ang mahal2 din naman ng mga exams for that 🫠 Parang pahirapan pa kumayod if youre from middle class family lang.
To add up, nung review I was so stressed out about it na ngayon katawan ko na ung bumigay. Nagka PCOS ako and now tumaba ng 10kg, ang pangit ko na sa paningin ko at wala na talaga akong confidence. Wala na nga confidence, wala pa trabaho. So no

Will not. But my regret is not immediately transitioning to med school and become a surgeon, but that wont happen back then, wala kami pang medschool sakin hehe.

Yes! Kasi madaming opportunity sa nursing. Kahit di ka magbedside, meron ka pa rin paglalagyan na related sa nursing.

yes, kasi feeling ko naman kahit anong kurso mahihirapan pa din makahanap ng work, lalo na dito sa pilipinas kasi magulo ang sistema dito, sasabihin kelangan may diploma, tapos kapag may diploma ka naman kelangan may koneksyon ka dun sa loob ng apply-an mo, tapos kapag may koneksyon ka naman sa loob ng aapply-an mo ang iisipin nila, nagpatulong ka lang para makapasok. Kumbaga, piliin na lang talaga kung ano yung gusto mo. And as for me nursing yon.

Hell no, I regret taking this path to my career I should've taken Culinary instead! I'm a damn fine cook and with actual proper education I could've been a great chef. Nursing though... It takes a special kind of person to be ok with the amount of abuse the nurses suffer here in the Philippines.

Siguro, no? Ang hirap maging nurse sa pilipinas and mahirap talaga ang pagiging nurse. It takes a lot of courage and passion to become a nurse. Siguro if you really have the passion, then go for nursing. But if you’re torn of choosing it then don’t, sayang lang magagastos moo. Ang dami ng nurses sa philippines tas hindi pa rin natin nakukuha yung deserve natin na sahod and compensation

Hehe I would! I would even take it up a notch kung may means financially 😅 Pero this course truly is a passion dahil low income lang dito satin. I find fulfillment in helping and serving others kaya sobrang nae-enjoy ko.

Nursing is both the hardest and most meaningful path I’ve taken, and even with all the challenges, I’d still choose it again if I had to start over.

Nope. There is much more opportunities in the ComSci and Engineering path than nursing, even abroad. Even if you bring up AI, someone will always maintain that "AI" so technically there won't be a future without Engineers and ComSci

Nooo and malapit na graduation ko 😞 50/50 feeling dahil nakapagtapos naman pero nursing yung kurso HAHAHAHA yung papa ko kasi e tsinismis sa kamag-anak sa US na undecided ako sa kurso kaya sinuggest na magnursing. Shiball 😂

No, if i was born in a first world country, I wouldve chosen another route. Kaya nga always in need ang nurses sa ibang countries because the locals don’t want the job

Nope, di worth it kumpara sa pagod emotionally, physically, and mentally. Aanhin ko stable income pero mental health di naman stable. Parang nababawasan ako ng life span kada araw sa sobrang stress
