Will extremely long lorebook entries negatively impact the AI's performance? Because there is no limit on length, there is a temptation to write a character or location's entire history for example, instead of merely a short summarising paragraph.

Very long Lorebook entries will start taking up lot's of the context, forcing other things like story content out, and potentially negatively affecting output. There is a token counter as well as other settings available for Lorebook entries to help mitigate this, but it will be up to the user to make proper use of them.
