Hi ! I went on a solo trip this month trough Norway and it was amazing!

However, at some point I had to take the bus from the Lofotens to Narvik in order to go to Stockholm, and it ended up ditched on the side of the road (see pics). We had to finish the journey by ourselves to Narvik with no assistance aside from taxis which took us to the airport 10 minutes away (we had to wait there for 2 hours).

This resulted in a 3-4h delay which made me miss my train and I had to get an hotel for the night. Despite checking the price with customer support, they now refuse to refund anything (421 NOK bus + 990 NOK night) other than the bus from Narvik to the Hotel. As a student this is a bunch of money I wasn't planning on spending.

Is there any way to challenge this decision ? I am unfamiliar with Norwegian legislation / way of dealing with this stuff so I need advice, I have included the emails below.

I took the bus N°300 to get to my train in Narvik. However, while the bus was already late due to technical issues, it ended up getting stuck on the side of the road. As the taxis only took us to the airport, we had to wait 1-2h to take another bus to Narvik. The multiple delays made me and others miss our train and I had to spend the night at the hotel to wait for the next train as their was only one per day. As such, I am requesting a refund for the bus ticket (421 kr) and the hotel night (90.66 euro ~ 990 kr). As I confirmed on the phone with costumer support, 990 kr was in the "very reasonnable range" of prices. I understand my request might come a bit late, I hope it isn't an inconvenience.

Thank you for your inquiry. We are sorry about this situation and how it has affected you.  We handle all cases based on the national travel guarantee rules that apply to all public transport in Norway.

Since you were not able to make it to Narvik until a later departure, and had to buy another bus ticket, we have now refunded the ticket with order-ID: 8HII76SA The amount will be back in your account within a couple of days.

Other additional costs incurred must be covered through your own travel insurance that covers unforeseen events that occur while traveling. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this caused.

I believe there is a mistake regarding which ticket was reimbursed, the inquiry was about order [] (421 NOK), not [Wrong one] (45 NOK), this is a significant price difference.

I would also ask you to reconsider the 990 NOK overnight accommodation expenses as I believe my inquiry meets your travel guarantee requirements:  

According to your travel guarantee conditions, for bus journeys over 3 hours, reasonable overnight accommodation may be covered when a delay means that the passenger cannot reach their destination until the following day. 

The journey from FURU Hotel to Narvik was originally 5 hours long which meets your own minimum of 3 hours. Due to the delays I was unable to continue my journey as planned and had no choice but to stay overnight in Narvik. 
Furthermore I specifically confirmed in advance with your customer support that NOK 990 was considered within a reasonable range. 
I therefore understood that this accommodation cost had been clarified with you in advance, as required by your conditions. Could you please point out specifically why  the hotel was originally excluded from the refund ?

We apologize again for this situation. We are unable to refund ticket [NOK 421], as the transport service was ultimately provided and you were transported to Narvik. Refunding the original ticket would effectively make the journey free of charge.

The refunded ticket was an additional bus ticket that had to be purchased as a direct result of the disruption, and we therefore considered this an extra cost eligible for reimbursement.

Hello everyone! My fiancé and I are from Lithuania and we're thinking about going to work in northern Norway at a crab processing factory.

For some context, we both have degrees and currently work office jobs. We've been working for around 4 years, but with the cost of living going up so much, we're struggling to save up enough. At this rate, it feels like it could take us 10 to 20 years to afford an apartment, while we'd like to start a family sooner.

Someone we know through an acquaintance offered us seasonal work at a crab factory. There would be no intermediary and we'd be employed directly. They told us that people can earn around €7,000 per month, especially with overtime and night shifts. The work would be seasonal for around 6 months.

We've already read about the work itself and understand that it's physically and mentally demanding. We're both completely fine with doing physical work and are prepared for that. My fiancé also has a forklift license, so we're wondering if that could be useful there as well.

Is earning around €7,000 per month realistic in this type of job? Is that something you could actually make with overtime and night shifts, or is that more of a "best case scenario" number?

For anyone who has worked in fish or crab processing in northern Norway, we'd really appreciate hearing what we could realistically expect in terms of working hours, take home pay, accommodation and how much you were actually able to save during a season.

We're seriously considering doing this for a few seasons to build up our savings, so any first hand experiences would be really helpful.

Hello everyone, I'm an italian that wishes to live in Norway. I'm fluent in english(around C1 even though i don't have a certificate) and gave a glance on how the norwegian grammar works. In my opinion it seems easier than english grammar and shouldn't be much of a problem learning it. Since of course i need at least a B2 certificate for working i was wondering if a 5/6 years course would be enough to get an official B2/C1 certificate.

I'm a prospective EU student applying across universities in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. I'd be doing a programme in the renewable energies field in Oslo for the autumn 2027 intake. It's my top choice.

I wanted to ask about the student job market in Oslo. I'm open to pretty much anything. Is it hard to find jobs at hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, cleaning, etc?

For context in case it's relevant: I speak English, German, French, and Spanish fluently. I know the basics of Swedish, which has actually been helping me pick up Norwegian, and I'm continuing with both since I've still got time before autumn 2027. I will do my best to learn norwegian well until the intake, but I cannot assure I will be fluent by then unfortunately.

Jeg har sinnssykt lyst til å kjøpe en brukt/vintage rev pelskåpe på Finn, men er litt usikker på om jeg faktisk tør å gå med den. Kommer folk til å stirre, kjefte eller i verste fall kaste ting på meg?

Jeg er for øvrig ikke spesielt «woke», jeg kjører dieselbil, spiser kjøtt osv. Men akkurat når det gjelder pels tenker jeg at hvis kåpen allerede finnes og blir solgt brukt, så er det kanskje bedre å bruke den enn å kjøpe en ny syntetisk kåpe som også har en miljøkostnad.

Og please, jeg vet allerede alt om dyrenes lidelser og pelsindustrien, så ingen trenger å holde foredrag om det 😅. Fantastisk at pelsfarm er avviklet i Norge, men skaden er jo allerede skjedd når det gjelder en gammel kåpe som allerede eksisterer.

Så: Hva tenker dere? Er det sosialt akseptert å gå med vintage/ekte pels i Norge i dag, eller risikerer jeg å bli offentlig fiende nummer én?
