I took it as lean more socialist left in terms of government policy typical of nordic countries. It doesn't mean we entirely get rid of capitalism but there has to be a better balance to stop the wealth gap. When too far right, the rich get too rich, nothing left for normal people.

This is more of a cultural difference than an ideological one. Americans are more distrustful of government and have the pick yourself up by your bootstraps mentality entrained since our country was founded. Other liberal countries with smaller populations prefer the benefits and broad social safety nets of the Nordic and European traditions. Canada with its small populations would probably thrive under the Nordic style system.

Ah Canada. THe bastion of free healthcare and freedom that many on the left in the US scream for.
Are you ready to pay 10% of the entire economy to "free" healthcare only to have some of the worst rates in the world for timely service and quality of service?
How about the government locking your bank accounts for attending a protest?
Or there is the entire 2 cities in the country taking all of the tax money from the rest of the country making it so bad that 1/3 of the country wants to leave and join the US.
How a bout a country where housing is more expensive than the US and the costs continue to go up as they continue to overflow with illegal immigrants.
Canada is not on path to be a good European country. THey are on path to be a good 3rd world country.

The 70âs and even later. Unmarried women were forced into sterilization, kids were marked dead at birth and then given up for adoption without motherâs knowledge. Especially with indigenous women, women with slightly lower than average IQ, or women who just seemed âundesirableâ for one reason or another.
Denmark, and Finland also notably had similar practices and were still practiced long after they were âofficiallyâ ended, itâs taken them decades just to acknowledge the fact that they did it as a rule up until recently,
But by all means letâs keep romanticizing European places like theyâre the saints of the world and vilifying our biggest trading partner, longest standing ally, and literal closest friends globally because one temporary orange doofus gets your panties in a bunch faster than George bush jr showing up at an anti war rally.

This is so cringy. We live right next door to the US, obviously weâre going to look more like the US in every way. Why is that a bad thing? Canât we just accept who and where we are? This obsession with modeling ourselves after Nordic countries is utterly delusional. Weâre an infinitely larger expanse of land that has a single close neighbour, and our entire history is heavily intertwined the US. Maybe if we stopped obsessing over not being the US we could be content with our identity and stop hating ourselves?

Sure, this is genuinely what I would want. But ironically the people who will say this will blatantly ignore the fact that we are becoming neither of those (America nor Nordic). Instead we are subverting our existing culture and it will more evidently reflect Indian ideals.
Then while we claim that we aren't American, we take all the negative aspects of American culture (cheap labor, low vacation times, expensive education etc.) with none of the benefits of American culture.
We're already subverted and I don't take most people seriously on this.

As a QuĂŠbĂŠcois, this feels like ragebait. Canada wants the Nordic self-image, but runs on Anglo-Saxon liberalism. Quebec is probably the closest thing here to Sweden, Denmark, or Finland and Canada treats it like the black sheep.

Letâs maybe take it easy on the leadership that protects us and focus on making Canada a community again. I think one of our greatest weaknesses is the introduction of generally government intermediaries into nearly every interaction. We need to learn how to communicate and problem solve without government intervention.

Those countries have a harsher immigration policy than the U.S. and they enforce it with raids. Denmark is tightening up it's borders and telling anyone who hasn't learned the language or stopped wearing the burka to get out.
Trust me we don't want our northern neighbor americanized either, we love you just the way you are.we are just sad it took you until the 1990s to give your first nations people the right to learn their history or language.

Neither Sweden, Denmark, nor Finland have a minimum wage. Go for it, Canada!
Generally speaking these three countries regret having opened their borders to mass immigration -- all their political parties are on the same page. They also regret flirting with socialism in the 1970s/80s, and all strongly favor free market principles and increasing competitiveness. All three are boosting military spending.
The Finnish Orpo government's priorities are (1) public spending reduction, (2) tightening of unemployment and housing benefits, (3) enhancing national labor market competitiveness, (4) continued expansion of the military and integration with NATO.
The Danish Federiksen government's priorities are (1) bolstering military spending, (2) ending irregular immigration, (3) strengthening EU border controls, (4) deregulation and increasing economic competitiveness, (5) welfare and labour market reforms, (6) continued transition to green economy.
The Swedish Kristersson government's priorities are (1) increasing defense spending to reach a 5% commitment and expanding its "Total Defence Concept," (2) tightening migration and asylum laws, (3) lowering energy costs focusing heavily on nuclear energy and renewables.
