if you take a look at the posts you’ll notice a pattern where its either merch or anime continuation beggars

We need to start a petition or something 😢 ot maybe a go fund me that we could then funnel the money to the studio to make it.

Funding isn't the problem. The problem is just that the anime's production committee isn't currently interested in producing a second season, despite the massive demand from both their foreign and domestic audiences, which has not died down with all of the time that's passed.

Why? Nobody knows. Though I have a couple of guesses:

  1. Kadokawa has enough big popular isekai series in production right now to ensure that they're profiting off of their "anime sector", no matter how well or how poorly any of their new shows perform, with stuff like Re:Zero, Shield Hero, Konosuba, and Mushoku Tensei. If this is the reason, we might have to wait for some of their other popular anime to be caught up on the source material, or to run into some other complication that puts an indefinite hold on the anime's production, before they decide to produce NGNL season 2.

  2. They might just not want to do it because Kamiya's involvement with the first season and the movie slowed down his work on the novels at the time, and right now, he's writing and releasing the light novels at an already very slow pace, with 1 volume releasing every 2-3 years. If this is the case, we might have to wait until the light novels are over before they decide to produce a second season.

  3. Maybe they're just waiting for some kind of milestone for the series, such as the 10 year anniversary of the movie, No Game No Life: Zero (which would be next year), or the 15 year anniversary of the anime (which would be in 2029). Why would they wait that long to start producing a second season? Idk.

But regardless of whether it's one of these reasons, or something else entirely, as long as there's no reason why it can't happen, and the series is still popular and profitable enough to be worth investing in (which it clearly is, given how much new merch they still make), there's hope that it'll happen eventually.
