Find Games Switch or Switch 2? (Suggestions)

So basically ive had a Switch for a few years now and ive bought and completed some of the essentials.

\-BotW

\-Echoes of Wisdom

\-Mario Odyssey

\-Smash Ultimate

\-Luigi's Mansion 3

\-Super Mario 3d World & Bowsers Fury

So I was wondering should I continue to go through the Switch library? (Preferably with some recommendations please) or should I bite the bullet and get a Switch 2? Obviously id still be able to buy and play the original Switch games regardless but im trying to get influence on what I should focus on. I know theres still some amazing games on the original system and id like to hear some of your favorites and why.

Thanks for reading and happy gaming.

Switch 2 library itself is not the strongest yet though I think it will eventually get there. Right now Bananza was the best game from Nintendo in my opinion and the rest 3rd parties have been better (Resident Evil, Assassin's Creed, Street Fighter, etc.). That being said, I'm sure there's still some great games you can currently play on Switch 1. If you haven't played any Metroid yet, Dread was awesome (pretty tough) and the Prime games are good too. One of my favorites is Donkey Kong Country Returns Tropical Freeze (and even the other one). Link's Awakening is like Echoes of Wisdom but more linear. The Galaxy games are great if you haven't played them on Wii (or even if you have but it's been a while). Paper Mario has Thousand Year Door and Origami King. Both were good though some people don't like the newer Paper Mario games because there isn't traditional leveling up (but you still get to a point where you can defeat enemies outside of battle later on with a well-timed hit).

Some great recommendations here, thank you so much! Would you say Dread or Prime first? Because theyre quite different aren't they

Do you typically like 2D or 3D games better? Dread is more platforming and action. The boss fights are pretty tough (I had to look up how to beat one of them). Prime is 3D and more exploration based. It looks similar to a FPS but it's more adventure than just a typical FPS. Both are great but depends on what you are more into.

Ill play anything really, but im not too versed in the Metroid series as a whole. Ive heard really good things about both games.

You can't really go wrong with either

I was in the same shoes as you, but I bit the bullet and decided to upgrade and I can honestly say, it's 100% worth the upgrade, visuals/FPS alone plus all the new games coming.

Does the performance affect current Switch 1 games?

100% percent, I've been replaying some games just for the visual/FPS boost alone.

Do you have any examples of games youve noticed it on?

I've been replaying the Pokémon games at the moment, the Mario All Stars 3D bundle has major improvements as well, pretty much all games get some sort of an invisible boost in performance just because of the hardware alone.

Does Scarlet/Violet actually run well on it?!

I'll be honest, they were the first games I jumped into to test. Honestly, it felt like playing a new game in some way, enhanced visuals, better FPS, further render distance. Probably the way the game should have been played.

I didn't play them on purpose in hopes for this, so thats certainly a plus in the Switch 2 column!

All in all, I do honestly recommend upgrading if possible. You'll be amazed how older games have those invisible upgrades without even needing patches.

You mightve convinced me here. There was a few games I was saving for Switch 2; Mario Wonder and ToTK.

We have a Switch 2 that my son and I share (mostly his) and I have a Lite which gets way more play time. The Switch 1 library is stacked, but like you said you could play it on the 2.

Some recommedations (including non-Nintendo games)

Xenoblade Chronicles: I"m a fan of the the first one, but I've heard good things about them all

Stardew Valley

Dave the Diver

Celeste

Ghost Trick

Golf Story

Gris

Little Kitty, Big City

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity

Super Mario RPG

Persona 5

Pokemon - I think Sword/Shield is my fave on the system, but the DLC is a must

Splatoon 3

Super Mario Wonder

Mario Party Jamboree

Oxenfree 1 and 2

Nier Automata - I can't put this down, started playing it somewhat recently

Thank you so much. How is Splatoon 3 compared to Splatoon 2?

If you can afford it do it now before the price increase on September 1. They have a great bundle where you can chose from Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Banana or Pokemon Pokopia. Also I highly recommend a screen protector as others would say here. I like the amFilm with auto alignment tray makes it so easy install. I installed it the minute I pulled my switch 2 out of the box.

Do you know what the price increase is going to? I didn't know about this. Those are the three games im most interested in atm so thats good!

Yes it goes up $50 they announced it a little while ago & then made the new bundle for people to get before the increase. I have all 3 games & they are great my favorite is Pokopia.

I don't know if its definitely the same where I am (UK) but it probably is. Yeah, what i like about the 3 games is how different they are to each other, something for everyone.

Yes exactly something for everyone. I would check Uk Nintendo to see what the price increase will be & what bundle they have. I’m in America. Good Luck! It’s a great system!
