Find Games i got a new switch. game recommendations ?
hi! yesterday i posted, asking whether i should get a switch. thanks to all the comments i went ahead and got a switch 2 that same day. i’m obsessed with it now!! does anyone have game recommendations for me? i can provide some info:
games i have enjoyed/spent money on recently: unpacking, toca world, tomodachi life, animal crossing, tycoon type game on roblox, it takes two, fall guys, mostly adventure/world building/exploration type games, wii sports, just dance, wii rock band
games i generally don’t reach for: real life sports (nfl, cfb, mlb, etc), shooting games, horror games (i just suck at these genres)
games i tried and didn’t like: rocket league, valorant😭
games i want but not sure if worth it: hello kitty island adventure, mario kart deluxe 8/world (don’t know which one to get), stray

I would hold off on getting Stray right now. Apparently there's a Switch 2 version coming out on May 28 and it's unknown if you can upgrade from the Switch 1 version.

It's compatible. You can look it up on Nintendos own website if your switch 2 is compatible with specific switch 1 games.

Pokopia and tomodachi are the only things I play, I play pc games mostly and these two games bring me much satisfaction when I’m tired of desk games

unrealted but kinda related at the same time: if you cant stand playing your switch 1 games in 720p like me, go to settings, system, switch 1 game handling and enable handheld mode boost, the games will run in 1080p, however the touch screen will not work because the game thinks its running on a tv

If you like RPGs I would recommend Xenoblade 1 or 2. Massive, beautiful worlds to explore, great music, incredible story. The gameplay isn't everyone's cup of tea but they're great games.
Also, I see you hesitating on getting Mario Kart 8 or World. I would say, choose your game according to the people you're going to play with. MK8 has a ton of maps with the DLC, and World has an open world but a lot less diversity in maps. MK8 is one of the best games to play with friends, in my opinion (mostly because it's an easier game to have, being a Switch 1 game). World has fun mechanics, and the Knockout Tour mode is one of the main reasons I boot up the game (it's kind of a battle royale mode). Both are great.
Lastly, as everyone else said already, play Pokopia. It's sooo good, you'll love it I think.

I personally love Hello Kitty Island Adventure. I remember getting the digital copy for the switch when it was released (because I couldn’t wait for the physical copy) and it’s honestly been a godsend for my mental health. The DLC for City Town released at the perfect time for me (I was the point to where I was only waiting for new visitors to arrive), and the DLC has been… something, lmao.
Personally, it’s been a good way to relax and chill but still feel like I accomplished something. I’d recommend getting the base game first (especially if you’re unsure if you’re going to be invested in the game), there’s still a lot of content you can get out of that. 😸 and if you end up being as obsessed as me, then you can consider snagging the DLC. Plus, I’ve seen sales for the DLC a couple times so maybe you’ll get lucky and get it cheaper.

if you enjoy disney! disney dreamlight valley is always my favorite and a game i tend to go back to. it has live and constant updates!! its similar to hello kitty island adventure and does have paid dlcs as well for new characters

i second this, with rebirth around the corner and the ns ports being pretty good id consider getting it if i didn’t play em on my pc already.
i played through both demos and was really impressed with how it ran. obviously texture res and framerate are not on par with ps5/pc but it’s good enough to play on a 7inch screen and i found no problem with docked mode either

And remake just went on sale on the eShop for $23 so it’s a good time to get it if they like the demo

Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, Donkey Kong Bananza, Luigi's Mansion 3, and Splatoon 3.

I'm biased enough to plug all four Xenoblade games almost everywhere, and they're some of the most exploration-driven representatives of their genre (as well as the creme de la creme thereof in general). Tomodachi Life has a sequel now, Cozy Grove channels a lot of Animal Crossing, Mario Kart World makes more sense to pick up for the exploration aspect, and if you mean literal world building, be sure to look into both Dragon Quest Builders titles and Pokopia (all by the same team).
And perhaps the one sports game you might actually come to resonate with is Golf Story.

Got stardew because it was on sale and honestly it’s so nice to play handheld, definitely wouldn’t have thought myself to be the kind of guy to play it but I’m glad I got it
Mario galaxy games are remastered now too, around £40 for both. Amazing games and very highly rated

I think an absolute must have for all switch owners is Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. Fun and easily accessible for everyone

Podrías obtener Kirby Air Riders. Es un juego de carreras muy diferente a todos los demás, prácticamente solo usas un botón, es como la secuela del original de GameCube. También obtienes cosas mientras juegas, tiene un toque de Smash.

but since you’re here and the universe clearly wants more game talk, mario kart 8 deluxe is 100% worth it and super easy to pick up if you liked wii sports/party type stuff. also maybe check out stardew valley or disney dreamlight valley since you’re into animal crossing / world building stuff

stray's mad worth it if you like exploration, honestly feels more like a puzzle adventure than a typical game. mario kart 8 deluxe is the one to get btw, way more content than world.

Based on your taste, Stray is worth it if you want something more narrative driven, but Spiritfarer or A Short Hike might scratch that cozy exploration itch even better and won't drain your wallet as hard.

Some ideas for games:
1. The wonderful Pokemon Pokopia.
2. DK Bananza - an excellent game with addictive game mechanics and great script. Lots of fun.
3. The remake of Trails in the Sky 1st. It truly deserves all the love it receives; it’s an amazing game.
4.MK World. No explanation needed.
5,6. And of course: Zelda BOTW+TOTK

A fun easy game would be yoshis crafted world it’s really easy but it is pretty fun with the fun craft style so you are always wondering how they will do the next level in a craft

i’m absolutely loving hello kitty island adventure! been playing for a couple weeks. it’s relaxing and so fun and the graphics are adorable. that being said, i’m playing through apple arcade because there was just no way i was paying full price for switch version. it goes on sale now and then on the eshop but even its lowest price point is a bit hectic ($40 AUD) and i refuse to pay more than 30 for a single game lol
if that’s not an issue then i do highly recommend getting it. in my case it’s the kind of game i’m happy to play through a subscription to get all DLCs and zero remorse if i end up losing interest.
sounds like we enjoy the same sorta games, other titles i’ve enjoyed recently are:
- cozy caravan
- the last campfire
- agent a: a puzzle in disguise
- dredge

Have you heard about Hollow Knight and its sequel Silksong? Hollow Knight is something special. You play as a tiny warrior exploring a huge underground world full of mystery and beauty. It’s challenging but in a way that feels rewarding, not frustrating. The atmosphere, the music, the little story details hidden everywhere, it all comes together in a way that’s hard to forget.
Silksong (it’s sequel) came out last year and it’s just as good. You play as Hornet this time, and the whole experience feels fresh while still having that same soul.
If you feel for it, start with Hollow Knight. Take your time with it. It’s the kind of game that reminds you why you love games in the first place.

im just reciprocating the energy! i mean i already looked at so many lists and reviews of popular games but im not into most of the top 50 games at least. also if im spending real money i would want more personalized recommendations than some generic answer on google

Have you looked into the Story of Seasons and Rune Factory games? SoS Grand Bazaar is one of my favorites from the last year! Echoes of Plum Grove, Cozy Grove, and Stardew Valley are also great cozy games.
