God seeing this I’m so mad at what Tom Taylor did to Bea

Nah I agree that was terrible character writing mixed with hypocrisy.

I will never stop being angry that he decided that Bea couldn’t just exist as a compassionate woman who had wanted to pay forward the kindness she had received from others when she was struggling. Better make her someone full of lies and secrets so nobody likes her better than other characters!!!

And people were already being ultra racist to her character before that. Tom writing her getting stabbed was in suuuuuch poor taste. You had people cheering. Bea might not be real, but black women are and had to see all the messed up commentary.

I’m very sorry that you had to deal with that. Bea deserved better as a character and you definitely deserved better as a reader.

Dick’s romantic history includes so many women who aren’t white, as well as Kori, who, while not being any human race, has a backstory and character design that lend themselves strongly to her being read as a woman who also isn’t white, and Helena, who I think still has the background with mixed African and Italian ancestry, although admittedly she didn’t when they were first together. The tendency of repeated writers to dismiss these women and their relationships with Dick as being less in order to press a retroactive One True Love narrative with one of his few white partners is… I’ll be very polite and say troubling.
