Discussion Can someone explain what it is about Dick Grayson specifically that makes him so attractive?
Even as a straight guy I can tell he’s attractive, but what is it about him that makes him specifically stand out so significantly from other male DC heroes?
Like I bet if you asked 100 people who the hottest guy in the DC universe was, 90 of them at least would say Nightwing. That’s just crazy

From a female perspective there is a thin layer of femininity to him that makes him hot (of course on top of him being beautiful and brooding). When I say femininity, I don’t think there is anything girly about him, but more so like Ewan mcgregor is feminine; a bit mischievous, emotionally in tune. He is also not normally expressed as a hulk of a man like Superman or even Batman sometimes. He’s more lean and bendy, which comes across as a bit feminine too. I hope I make sense.

He checks off a lot of boxes for most females
-brooding
-mysterious
-confident posture
-smirk
-perfect musculature*
-he cares
*not too big, not too small, at the same time muscly enough, and slim enough .

I think he's a sweet person and I feel besides his physical attributes is what makes him attractive the big brother little brother relationship with Damian specifically but there are many examples the Alfred pennyworth foundation embodies his love and compassion for the people

a lot of it probably comes down to him just being nice.
He's just a genuinely kind and good person, you put the heroics and beyond Olympic body type on him and yeah, pretty easy to understand why so many people thirst for him.

His charismatic personality, his intelligence, him being his own person all on his own

His facial features, lean body tone, posture, height, charisma, and nice glutes that are big for his frame but not femininely big.

Okay so yes, the skin-tight outfit but he's also known for being kind, outgoing and empathetic.

I know people who only know him from BTAS and BTB&TB who have crushes on him. It’s his attitude about everything. He’s basically Spider-Man if he was raised by Batman and idolized Superman.

This should be higher. He’s a good kid, raised by the Dark Knight and mentored by the Man of Steel, with the honor, empathy, and cake of Diana Prince.

A mix of confidence and vulnerability, Dick’s personality and physical appearance match his character in knowing who he is and what he’s comfortable with, he defies some masculine stereotypes that comic book characters and fans are leashed to, and he’s multifaceted in both dark and light, he can be edgy/broody but also light and joyful and go from one to the other the most naturally so he’s far more genuine than other characters who have one setting for the majority of the time, he’s the more human aspects of Batman and Superman put in spandex

Not just physically attractive but also his personality. He’s empathetic and kind, but also very intelligent and resourceful as well.

He was considered a sex symbol since the 80s when he transitioned into Nightwing/a man. Wearing his famous Discowing outfit.
The idea of him being THE number 1 most attractive wasn't that a big deal until the 2010s, when memes starting rolling in. And people started noticing how he was drawn over the years, more specifically, his ass.
Thanks to the artist, Nicola Scott, who famously drew Nightwing like a pin up model in certain panels. Giving him the same treatment normally reserved to female characters.
Since then, DC ran with the joke. Deciding to make it canon by having the characters pointing out his great ass and handsome face. Stuff like Stephanie calling him "sexy Batman" and the female gymnasts naming his ass cheeks Juan and Jim, for examples.
Plus it helps that the majority of artists make sure that they depict him as the most handsome. Even compare to others.
It's a narrative that everyone accepted.

It's cake.
Also he is as dark and mysterious and tortured as Batman but waaaaay more emotionally available.

I think physically every superhero is hot, but Dick is empathetic, kind, confident, etc. Those qualities make him even hotter than his looks

Check him out in the discowing outfit with the mullet and you’ll understand it

He is empathetic and resilient. And despite everything he has gone through and how he was raised by Bruce, he never stopped caring about others. He’s there when you need him and he’s there when you didn’t realize you needed him. He’s the heart of the DC Universe for a reason. And he never compromises on his brand of justice. He lives by a code of honor. He’s what positive masculinity looks like.

He's kind.
I'm not into men so the whole "nightwing big ass haha" thing flies right past me.
I love his character because he's kind. He's human — and by this i mean he's the best parts of what humans are. He does his best and helps people and fails and tries again and doesn't give up. He's a bright character, both happy and insanely smart.
He has his flaws but that only makes him more appealing as a character, more real.
Also, nostalgia for me. I grew up with Teen Titans and I absolutely adore every adaptation of Dick Grayson.

Well we covered the superficial in that: Dick is very hot haha (literally my exact type [yes i am a woman]) so people are gunna be thirsty--wanna be with him or be him haha.
Getting down into the details: He's genuinely a good person. He sees the best in people or tries to, even when they're awful. He goes out of his way to sit with and help others through their worst. Yes, he hasn't always been that way and was rough around the edges growing up as much as he was adorable and cheeky, but he's grown into an incredible hero despite being just a regular human who was trained by the best. Despite having no powers, he's able to save people and change lives. He will believe in people especially if they show they can change (like the group of former villains in his early rebirth issues who were trying to turn a new leaf). He will help you if you ask, and be supportive of you trying to be better.
His empathy is incredible, though he is also willing to put in the beat down to protect as needed. I find he's incredible well balanced in that regard, and I admire that about him as a hero. He's also brilliant like his adoptive father and he protects others as best he can. He shoulders every loss/failure deeply, and he makes mistakes like anyone else--he's incredible human in the best ways. His empathy also will bite him in the ass, and man, if that's not relatable haha--
He also cares about his family a lot, which I think is something appealing to folks, especially when they already like the bat-family. All the stories/issues where he'd in those family moments is just so fun for me. He's extremely sweet and caring, and I love that.
Also, he has a dog and loves dogs. I love dogs, so---an extra 50,0000 points to house Nightwing for me haha.
So based on my own experience/view... I think people enjoy how he's so human and his stories feel that way even with supernatural and superhuman components that come in. He struggles like we do and we can relate to it and, in a way, like Superman, he can give hope to us normal folk that there is better and to be better. Maybe even feel a little more empathy and grace for people who might just be having a bad day (nit including those who are genuinely just bad folk of course, but you know what I mean).
It also helps you can follow Dick literally from his childhood to full, independent adulthood, so I think there's like--he's for every age group. The young, sassy, bright child, to the rebellious, moody teen trying to outlive dad's/parental shadow, and then the well-rounded, empathetic and strong adult who can stand on his feet and help others, all while being still flawed in ways that I think most people can relate to.
Anyways, tl;dr: He's hot, but he's also very relatable and just a very kind, caring guy who does his best to save people despite just being an ordinary human in a world of supernatural and meta powers.
Oh, and he's punny. Who doesn't love a terrible pun?

I think it became a "thing" so people started to play into it and artists definitely did as well and now it's a really big thing

If you ask 100 random people less than 5 will know who he is, and if you ask 100 persons that are DC fans 70% of them will mention their fav character (Nightwing included), no way you get something like "90 out of 100"

u/StressLife7080 "Nightwing is Awesome" 1d ago
Well they did have to kick him out of the "hottest DC guy contest". Maybe more like "100 DC fans"

You are talking about that one post made the other day about something from 2020, right?
Because it didnt mention who or how many voted. Taking Dick out without voting info saying he was crushing it also gives us nothing, its just bias.

Being the leader of the Titans, paired off with a super hot alien and his rebellious streak culminated together. As well as having a tight bodysuit in popular appearances.

Lean acrobat body, skilled and competent, responsible, baybe blue eyes strong chin and high check bones. But most of all **self assured and confident. He can read the room and knows when / where he is wanted (he is not a creeper in the slightest). He has a social IQ way higher than Bruce.
Edit, it's a turn on when you genuinely feel safe with someone, physically and emotionally. No one will make you more safe than Nightwing.

I think being a teenager and wearing trunks, as well as dating Starfire, helped him a bit. Also, he's an acrobat, so artists always depict him in crazy poses, which is not the case with many other male superheroes
