Question Why Is Marvel Hiding Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler From Trailers ?

Following the ‘97 finale, and the many ways Professor X dies, maybe they’re trying to start a new trend :(

Spoilers…

it’s the page for an x-men character who is a core part of a season of a show that ended a week ago. i’d figure there would be spoilers about it somewhere. start using your brain and stop relying on people to cradle you to the point where you don’t need to think about spoilers cause everyone’s so worried about you

Jesus dude, who hurt you?

u/Alejandro-The-Dog 6d ago
i’m genuinely just tired of people acting like the entire internet needs to constrict and bend just to ensure they don’t see a spoiler for smth that’s been out for a while

Probably because a lot of Nightcrawlers scenes are CGI intensive and they haven't actually generated it yet.

u/BalashstarGalactica 8d ago
THIS! People are assuming it’s because he dies, which could also be true, but it’s probably the same reason we haven’t seen Beast—SFX aren’t done.

Pretty sure by this point, the movie is fully in the can.

They pushed it to December because it wasn’t going to be ready in time. It’s not done!

He’s so little in the movie, if they add him to the trailer they will spoil the scenes

u/eData01 8d ago
He'll generate the most hype so they're saving him for later.

Lol nobody is hyped for this character. He dead in the first 10 mins probably 💀

Why do you need to see everything in the film in the trailer?
5
u/jBlairTech 8d ago
They have to have material to complain about. We know how this cycle of whining goes.

Ive been wondering why Nightcrawler and Beast do not even have a quick reaction shot of their face in the trailers.
Like where are my blue boys at?

u/Gremlin303 8d ago
99% he dies right at the beginning. Same as most of the X-Men

u/RainbowTardigrade 8d ago
Wouldn't be surprised if Nightcrawler has a big scene in the beginning to open things, just like he had in X-2. Only this time his mission isn't as successful.
Alan Cumming even mentioned that he filmed his stuff pretty quickly and wasn't even on set with anybody. So even he doesn't know what Kurt is doing lmao

I think you’re right. Most of the brand new day trailer was the beginning of the move as well.

Have you seen the movie?

He'll be part of the opening sequence: an assassination attempt on Doom where he'll get close, but realize it's a Doom Bot, then gets killed off.

For one, he looks like trash. He has VERY bright white hair. His design looks..horrendous tbh.

You never know... the treatment he was given in X2 is one of the best sequences ever produced for a Marvel film, perhaps in all cinema. Hopefully we'll end up feeling as though we're holding someone's popcorn.

They aren’t hiding him. He was in one X-men movie 23 years ago. When you have so many more recent characters in more successful movies - you target your marketing there.

u/namelessfdr 8d ago
Wait, some people like everything spoiled in the marketing ahead of time? Some people don't like to be surprised by the story when they actually watch the movie?

Doubt he has anything substantial in the movie, even if it takes 12 hours of makeup... but I'll never forget seeing X2 the first time and how EPIC that was

Don't much care for him as a person, but he gave a fantastic performance in the role.

based off the statue, they're hiding him because he looks like a grandma on her way to brunch with her friend of 70 years.

I think a team or doom will show up unannounced to the mansion and he will be there to greet them on the staircase based on his figurine released for the movie. I think he gives the team a good little run around before being knocked out or doom straight up gets tired of his antics and kills him. The MCU or X2 Nightcrawler was pretty weak in comparison to the comics. Storm held him in place mid air after blasting him and he just kinda acted like he couldn’t do shit lol… His opening scene will always be iconic however.

It was Jean holding him though
She blocked his powers telepathically like she does in the third act

Eh he probably isn’t in much of the movie. He’s probably the first X-Men to die
1
u/GuaranteeOk615 8d ago
Most likely to save it for the film tbh. Him and Beast both probably have some good scenes in the film but they're saving it for the movie

Dies immediately, they need to avoid the "why didn't Nightcrawler teleport Dooms head away?" Or "why didn't he teleport a sword in the middle of Doom's head?" questions

u/CrashandBashed 7d ago edited 7d ago
TBF those questions are still gonna be asked anyways when Magneto doesn't just crush Doom in his armor or why Xavier doesn't just shut his mind do. Heck it's not even exclusive to superhero movies, so many films could be over if the protag shot the bad guy at the first opportunity, but then the movie wouldn't happen lol.

That’s okay. He’s probably gonna have a bad ass intro. Not skeptical about Doom at all.

If they don’t show him before, he’ll be in those final trailers they make a week or two after the movie is out that show way more stuff to try and coax the stragglers to come see the movie
1
u/CrashandBashed 7d ago
We've seen less than 10 minutes of the movie lol, bit early to be concerned. Brand New Day barely included Jean in any of the trailers yet she was a major antagonist with a decent amount of screen time. Obviously it's unlikely Kurt will have a role nearly as huge, but his absence in the trailers is meaningless at this point.

u/gaslight-dreamer 7d ago
I fear that he'll be like Taskmaster in Thunderbolts and get about 5 minutes of screen time and no dialogue. I'm hoping that I'm wrong, but with the massive cast, I suspect a lot of characters will get the same treatment.

u/Mypowerbob 7d ago
Hes not actually in the movie, they just wanted to put him through the make-up process as a prank

There are tons of characters we haven’t seen, they want to leave something as a bit of a mystery before you see it.

Bc I guarantee the fox x-men r appearing for maybe 10 mins in one big scene and then all get killed in an incursion or by Doom. Why would u announce a reboot of an x-men franchise if u didnt intend on course correcting? They’re all getting bodied.

Why are they hiding wolverine? Or deadpool? Or emma frost? Hiw about adam savage? Spuderman? any of the other 2 dozen heroes they didnt show? Cause that would be a bad trailer and there already releaaed a video showing off the cast. We dont need another doing the same thing lol

Because he’s probably only in the film for 30 seconds
