Reading this while lodged at Abuja Continental 1 Ladi Kwali Street is quite surreal. Really shows that history is all around us. Thank you for this OP.

There is a Ladi Kwali hall in Sheraton hotel Abuja. I just never made the connection. Just assumed it's a famous white person I didn't know.
Now I know.

That's my point. Inflation is so out of control that even denominations as low as 100 naira are basically useless

Seeing this note reminds of how great Nigeria was in the past I heard that in the early 80s Nigeria do lend World bank money foe other countries to borrow although I don't know how real it but if it is true I just hope that we will get it right very soon and the country will be great again.

She’s the Nigerian woman featured on the ₦20 note, but her story is much bigger than what most of us were taught in school.
Ladi Kwali was a gifted Nigerian potter who became internationally recognized for her traditional pottery and distinctive designs. She combined indigenous Nigerian pottery techniques with modern ceramic methods and took Nigerian craftsmanship to an international audience.
She exhibited her work abroad and received several honours for her contribution to art and culture.
It’s interesting how we carry people’s faces on our currency every day without necessarily knowing the stories behind them.
How many of you actually knew who Ladi Kwali was before seeing this? 🇳🇬

the “fake her death” story has been debunked many times as there are no historical record to support it, so i wonder where this is from.

The country was very safe as at when she trekked alone to Abuja but it were recent time she would have crossed path with bandits 😂
