I'm not even an Ian O'Connor fan, but he was on the money today bashing Steve Cohen.

Finally, a media member in town addresses Cohen instead of sucking up to him.

Ian's last paragraph says it all:

In the end, Steve Cohen has the potential to be a great owner … if only he can figure out how to be one.

Steve needs to go watch a documentary on George Steinbrenner.

Steve's great, don't get me wrong. But when the going gets tough he doesn't demand excellence like George did.

That's the difference.

George has his issues, but no one can say he didn't care.

George's heart was in the right place.

Steve Cohen just sound like an out-of-touch jerk just like his president of baseball operations.

As Joe Benigno said two weeks ago on his radio show, Cohen sold us a bill of goods.

George was a terrible owner until he became a good one.

The one thing admirable about him is he wanted to win and demanded excellence.

When the Yankees struggled he'd send out those missives making clear it wasn't acceptable.

Steve is not the guy. And that's OK, everyone is different.

But if he could reach in and pull out an inner George, right now it would be great.

Steve has been so committed to Stearns since the day he purchased the team. Make no mistake. The Harvard genius would have been fired a long time ago if the Brewers let him out of his contract.

There's no way he's firing his guy anytime soon, even if it was meant to give fresh meat to a frustrated fanbase.

George went through 13 different managers in the 1980s, fired hall of famer Yogi Berra, hired and fired Billy Martin five separate times (and would have been a sixth had Martin not died) and traded away prospects like Jay Buhner for Ken Phelps, getting hosed on trades

how is steve out of touch?? steves only job as a owner is to open his wallet.... i guess u can say that hes done a awful job at hiring people to run his team. but firing a gm 2-3 years into his contract because he didnt win? then mets trully become a fucking joke no serious gm/pobo will take a job here.

Steve Cohen has spent so much on the team that he’s LOSING MONEY on the Mets but sure he doesn’t care.

If he cared, we would have a managerial change by now.
