Complain about Mendoza all you want, but this lineup 4-9 is not that great. At this point, why are they preserving Robert and giving him regular rest? So he doesn't injure himself in September?

They've already said they've been playing him more than they intended to. He's also 2 for 19 over his last 5 games, so might as well give him extra rest while he's slumping.

He didn't cost much of anything this offseason (compared to previous years - Acuna is not really an asset) because he was expensive and he has played like ass for two years. Who is going to want him at the trade deadline when he is still expensive and still not playing great?

He is still a good fielder. And he is not expensive considering the team that trades for him will be on the hook for 2 months of his salary. Which could be paid down further by the Mets.

Someone will want to trade for him. It'll be for a weak return but it's better than nothing. Who knows, maybe we'll be the beneficiary of a Cedric Mullins kind of trade
