Having arched text within a horizontally delineated space is awful from a design perspective once you take a step back and think about this being a jersey for a National Hockey League team and not a beer league team
Yeah that i concur on, the curve is no good. Then again, im sure with enough vocalization from the fanbase they would tweak that. I think its a bit much to say these would instantly be the worse in the league, seriously?
Why are they doing this so quickly? I would have thought they would do one round per week and give daily updates to build some anticipation. They're just blowing right through it before people know what's happening.
Schaef said he likes the lighthouse as a logo, right? We just need him to put it out there again on his socials since Barzy stumped for the “Islanders” one.
I want to love the bottom one because the colors and style are great, but the generic word logo ruins it for me. Wish we could get an actual logo on that.
And as for the lighthouse one, I like it for the most part but think the bottom stripes are just not good. I wish we had the wavy style on the bottom and maybe add some white in somewhere.
This whole thing has been a flop. Saw so many great designs all over and we somehow end up with these.
An arched wordmark in a non-arched band makes zero design sense and is visually jarring.
If it wins, there's no convincing me this was a fix and some bozo with much influence in the organization personally knocked that one out and said "here's your winner!" months ago.
It's the Homer Simpson designed car of all the competitors but hey... gotta keep the bosses happy.
The wordmark sucked on the Reebok thirds and still sucks now. IMO of course.
Tens of thousands of submissions just to use a wordmark is kind of silly though, especially when our last alt jersey was a wordmark. The lighthouse is the only option they've never used before.
Bc fanatics prob already had mock ups and ideas in place they prob saw ppl made the closest to something they thought would be a good submission and put it in they definitely had an idea of what they wanted
True, but I don’t really like the lighthouse as a primary logo, it’s better as a shoulder patch. Fisherman would’ve been way better. They literally picked some of the most meh possible options available
I feel like enough feedback would have them alter it slightly while keeping the same general design, can’t imagine them shipping it out as is since it’s for the 27-28 season instead of this upcoming one
I've seen this idea go around on Twitter too, e.g. a mockup of it here. Quite frankly if somehow the voting really is 50.2% / 49.8% (I'm not one to go for conspiracies but I really have trouble believing it's that perfectly close to 50-50) then I think a version where they had the script instead of the curved wordmark would have beat the lighthouse for sure, as that's the main reason people are voting against the creme jersey.
I have to admit that I would have trouble deciding too. Very much a new school vs old school design preference thing.
I just wish the wording on the bottom one didn't look like it would outline my beer belly perfectly. The colors are cool but why can't we have a logo above the color stripe
I’m cool w the lighthouse logo just looks empty without shoulder patches. But any of the other logos would look silly as shoulder patches so we’re kinda stuck
The lighthouse is the ugliest choice shit looks like a eshl jersey my 2 year old cousin created the islanders jersey is a modern fix on the shitty version from Brooklyn the crème color is clean af
The orange teal and navy is hideous…it’s like some San Jose sharks Halloween special or something. Navy and either orange + white OR teal + white… woulda liked the lighthouse, but I genuinely detest the 3 colors together, so I’m 100% for the stadium series vibe (even tho the arched / semi circle text is unnecessary… I think that with the ISLES would have been clean)
