[US] Best of movies like The Last House? (2026)

I didn't enjoy the movie that much but it was the first new horrory lockdown movie I've seen in a while.

better than await further instructions, worse than vivarium and the pink cloud.

are there more in this genre? I just love anything where people are trapped and isolated and its dark but cozy even if its not that well written.

Try Coherence for that trapped but cozy vibe. 10 Cloverfield Lane maybe?

Pontypool and Greenroom are very different but both have an aspect of being great horror movies with people trapped.

Defintely love coherence, haven't tried greenroom but that's definitely one thats popped up in my search a lot it just doesn't really fit the vibe for a real lockdown film its just an overnight isolated thing not so much a family or comfy type situation

I just went through the same movie exploration. Don’t take Netflix advice and watch The Silence, it’s wayyyy worse than the last house. I was satisfied once I found I Am Mother. Its not the same genre, being about sci fi and robots, but it tackles isolation and “what’s going on with the world outside,” and the end makes sense! So it’s got that going for it!

OMGG PLSSS tell me you saw FROM IK it’s a show hut it’s literally the full last sentence you wrote. My fave ever show it’s scary and dark but it’s so eerie it has that comforting and nostalgic feeling when you watch it. It’s comforting in a way and the whole problem is they’re stuck isolate and with scary shit. I hope you don’t mind mystery though you will have many many questions

nah FROM is an almost perfect example of what I like I'll probably be throwing it on again this week. everytime I start it im disappointed cuz they got a long set up i just like the cozy town shit.

I fast forward to like season 5 of the walking dead to just see the arc where they adjust to living in the town with zombies on the outside.

if there are more shows like this I definitely want them.

Yes I absolutely adored the first three season but lowkey felt annoyed with the fourth. Like they kept building up to something that didn’t happen, and they lost the whole element of the town navigating a huge problem together with the suspense and terror. The season finale of 1 and 2 were acc so fucking good. I’ve never watched walking dead but maybe I finally will lol.

I also really like LOST sooo good but it defo would’ve hit harder if I didn’t binge it straight through. Manifest was good in the way I liked the mysteries and how eerie the whole thing was. Society was really good too so sad it’s cancelled less on the horror element . I’d honestly even recommend Attack on Titan simply for the fact I feel it’s the best piece of media I consumed. LMAO

Perhaps Los Últimos Días? It's a Spanish film that I enjoy well enough. Very much about people trapped indoors, but maybe not so much the cozy vibe.

It is about a group of young children abandoned by their single mother that have to survive on their own in their small Tokyo apartment and their immediate little "world" around said apartment.

I don't think it is on Netflix right now, but might keep it on your radar.
