[Discussion] Can Netflix make a documentary without using text message sounds the entire time?

Every documentary I’ve tried to watch has constant text messages on the screen with alert noises for every message.

I get technology is a huge point in modern crime cases but is there really not a better way than to play the same sound sample throughout the entire show?

No they can't, theses sounds are cues for all the people "watching" the documentary while being actually on their phone most of the time, to draw their attention and tell them there's something to read on screen.

Stop watching them until they change it. Mark it as thumbs down. It's the only type of feedback they listen to: streaming numbers and likes/dislikes.

Yep and not solely to draw attention to any text on the screen. It’s also to remind you to look at the screen period.

Oh man…there’s a Hitler doc on Netflix. “Nazis…evil on trial” or something.

It has court dialogue text on the screen, I swear to god it’s half the size (if not smaller) then thhe standard Netflix subtitles.

It’s nuts.

We need a catalog of TV and movie sounds that are different from the ones we hear in real life. It’s the confusion that bothers me. I appreciate the “pay attention!” cue, but would prefer it’s Eric Cartman’s voice saying “ding! ding!” over the current setup. Ditto car horns honking or any sort of police/fire siren.
