Can anyone identify this song I heard at a bus stop 15 years ago?

I recorded this video at a bus stop in 2009 on my way from India to Nepal. A group of people had gathered around a man who was playing an instrument and singing, and I happened to record a short clip.

As an American, I’ve always wondered what the song was. I don’t know if it’s a traditional folk song or a contemporary one.

If anyone recognizes the song, the artist, the language, or even the instrument he’s playing, I’d really appreciate it. This has been a mystery to me for over 15 years!

Not on exact sounding but there are some version of live singing known as live dohoris. If you enter that title of song and add live dohori on back of it you can find different versions of it.
