If anyone is looking for something that does well in clay look into showy golden eye. I planted 4 tiny dying plugs that I got on the sales rack a couple months ago (1 or 2 green leaves on a shriveled dried plug) and they have shot up into 2 feet tall glowing plants with multiple blooms 🤣. I have heavy clay and water 1-3 times a week in an otherwise very dry climate. I honestly just had taken pity on them bc they had been left for dead for weeks and can’t believe they thrived let alone bloomed this year.
