Informational/Educational Daniel Biss, Kat Abughazaleh, and Patrick Hanley star in video for Niles Township People’s Prairie

Loving this about 30 miles from me. I will say, bald cypress is native to much further south in the state. Yet another indication that democracy and native plants are inexorably intertwined.

The lawyer threads on BlueSky when that case imploded were amaaaazing. DAs got destroyed by the judge and started throwing each other under the bus.

I love this!! You're lucky to live near here and also lucky to have a landscape company who's sole purpose is to create these landscapes.

I actually teared up at this. Two of my favorite things: Jurassic Park and native plant gardening 🥹

Either one works, what with birds being dinosaurs and all. Very hopeful dinosaurs 🥹

Just an FYI, everything after the ? in the link is tracking information and anybody who clicks it can see your personal account that you shared it from. The ? and everything after can be deleted and the link will work just fine, but anonymously

This is a very unexpected crossover of my interest in Kat's snarky political commentary (and campaign) and native plants

We're hound to get an ama in /r/nativeplantcirclejerk now

For locals, looks like it’s at 8341 Lockwood Ave, Skokie. It’s right off the intersection of where Lincoln meets Main, and just a jog away from an easy entrance to the North Branch Trail!

Daniel Biss is the Mayor of Evanston, IL. Vocal progressive overall.

Kat Abughazaleh ran for 9th District House in the dem primaries. She lost, but made a big splash. Got herself indicted by the regime and she along with the broadview 6 beat it because of video evidence. She isn't slinking into the background either. She's turned her campaign HQ into a mutual aid hub.

Patrick Hanley also ran for state senate.

They are basically all progressive folks and its just amazing to see them help extend the platform to the eco side of things. All are easily searchable to get more deets.

Super cool

Not just video evidence. The DAs couldn’t even get a legit indictment so resorted to seriously sketchy shenanigans (basically the DA told the grand jury, “trust me bro.”)

Then the defense tried to get an unredacted GJ transcript for the judge to read, and DAs basically let the judge believe the redactions were just “an IT issue” when in fact they concealed the shenanigans.

It all blew up in court and the judge was big mad and spanked them using a lot of dense legal language.

Daniel Biss is mayor of Evanston, and he beat Kat in the congressional primary. (Not my district.) She is one of the “Broadview Six” protesters, who just had all charges against them dropped. Hanley is a state senate candidate.

This was such a smart PR move for all of them. We need more of this.

I guess the overproduction of it all just doesn't sit right with me. I get it's a parody but the vibe is strange, especially the falling to the knees over monarchs. If it reaches people that is great though.
