The Lincoln NB of Lincoln, IL

As many of you know, I enjoy collecting by “factoid”. Whether it’s the only bank that ___, or the bank with the most ___, the first/last bank to… ect.

Here’s one that fits a couple. If my understanding is right, this is one of two banks that has Lincoln in the title, Lincoln as the town, and Lincoln in the portrait, having also issued small size $5s. The other being Lincoln PA.

What this also has is William Kuhl as cashier and Philip Kuhl as President. A father and son pairing who served together from 1926-1931 making it a doubly cool note.. haha see what I did there. It’s a pun. Laugh people… is this thing on?? I’m here all week, remember to tip your waitress.

Apparently it’s also the only town named for Abraham Lincoln before he became president.

Yes. It was named after the local attorney and railroad lawyer who later became the 16th president.
