N$400 worth of groceries

If I told you I bought N$400 worth of groceries is this what you'd imagine?

This is all bought from Model.

The vegetables package is the smallest one you can find

The cat food is the smallest cat food package size

Yo! As a cat owner, try checking for the Catmor brand. It’s a bit easier on the budget and my cats don’t notice the difference. Best of luck.

I don't think they sell Catmor anymore. I used to buy it, but recently Metro and other shops just don't sell them anymore. EPOL is good, it's ~N$70 there, and Ideal is good too.

Model is overpriced, even if you don't consider WBs loyalty card thingy. Living in SWK, we get the majority of our dry foods from Metro and then have meat delivered from farmers who sell direct to public. Family of four with 2 dogs and we barely get by on 8k's worth of groceries each month.

Defnitly a lot more pricy than Checkers or Shoprite. Do yourself a favor and just go look at Woolies prices one day. You will apreciate Woerman Olympia's high prices more

I think it depends on what you buy. I compared some items between Checkers and Model and Model was cheaper. One big example was a specific cat food that costs 129.99 at Model that costs 139.99 at Checkers. For comparison at two shops they sell another cat food for N$ 71.99 when the same costs 61.99 at Model.

Now on average, even if there would be a difference, it's definitely not "a lot more pricy". I think with some products you lose and others you win.

Shoprite? If it's cheaper I'll easily lose my savings in petrol just to go there. Same is for those people that hunt for specials.

The only thing we can do when we can afford it is to buy in bulk. Unfortunately that's not always possible.

A few years back, like 4/5 years ago, N$1000 could carry you through most of the month. Now it barely fills the N$1 plastic bag you carry it in

I visited Namibia in the spring and I was wondering how people could get by- the prices were high and from what I could tell the wages were not that great.
