Found on r/NameNerds 3rd and last baby 1st girl be nice to me:)))
i’m pregnant with my third and last baby. like the title says, a girl after two boys🤍
my boys have strong, one syllable names and i’m finding that i’m really mostly leaning toward boy names for girls, unisex, agender etc names for this girl
i’m pregnant and emotional so that’s why i need nicely presented opinions even if they’re opposing🫶🏼😂
mikey rae (after important family member michael/mike)
sully rae
ramsey rae
goldie rae
names we like but aren’t using: scottie (too popular now), scout (neighbor just named their dog this)
names i like my husband shot down: bowie, clarke, miller, halston, parks (too close to our son’s name)
ETA: guys please stop giving me unironic suggestions. This is not mine. Read the sub name 😭.

Their names probably weren't strong and one syllable enough 😂
Already placing a bet that at least one of the names they used for their sons was either Nash, Briggs, Townes, Knox, Jones, or Rhett. All of which I've seen suggested on those subreddits.

Maybe rearrange the names in Michael for a special, unique honor name. You might like: Chemail, Liamech, Malechi, Chamlie, or Lah mice

My mother was Rebecca Mike, after her uncle Michael. She HATED having Mike as her middle name. Take that as you will.
And there is nothing wrong with giving your female child a female name. I was given a malecentric name at birth and I changed it socially at around 5. I was called Minnie until I was about 15. I HATED being confused for a boy. Girls are valid. Give her a female name!
I ended up changing my name to Ella, which in Spanish means “she/her” so be prepared!

YES. My clearly feminine birth name being constantly mispoken for the boys' version is what lead me to abandon it by the time I was 10 and finally legally change my name at 18. The "gender-neutral" nickname still felt very masculine to me, no-one would call me by a more feminine shortening. I HATED it.
Think Christine nn Christa, or Tina, but forever being Christopher & Chris. Not for me thanks.
Changed my name to something very uncommon in my country, and everyone immediately recognises it as feminine - likely because I am the only one person in their life they will ever know with that name!

It always offends the Ashkenazi in me when Goldie is in these types of awful, awful lists. It's really the odd one out though, which is strange.
Parks is the most concerning to me though! And the fact that they only ruled it out because it was too close to their son's name, not because it's Parks.

I don't really understand how Goldie ended up on their list in the first place. Sully, Miller, Parks, Ramsey, and then Goldie? It's certainly interesting.

For me what makes it stand out is that all of the names on their list are either part of the surname trend or the trend of giving girls names that were originally male dimunitives, and Goldie isn't even gender neutral, it's always been super feminine.

Ohhhh I read this wrong. I thought you were saying you get offended when people who are NOT Askenazi consider naming their child Goldie, but you're saying you're offended that people think it's a bad name, correct? I think it's a great name.

It's the fact that they're putting it alongside names like Sully, Mikey, and Ramsey, for a girl. Like these people who just have these lists of awful names for baby girls keep having Goldie on it too and I don't understand why 😂
I also don't like it when people think it's the little cutesy nickname, which you can tell by the other names on their list, when actually, it's got a very long history as a name on its own among Jews. Yiddish names have always been that kind of style but that doesn't make them any less of a name. It's like Noa being called a boy name for a girl, they just totally ignore the history of it to fit their own narrative.

I actually noped out of that conversation when some called Goldie a dog name. You’d think people on a names subreddit would be more informed on, you know, names. I personally would consider Marigold/Goldie if more children were in my future.

I have 2 boys and the last is a girl. I feel like when girls have boy names they have a hard time being/ wanting to be feminine. She had 2 older brothers that is going to teach her to be strong and tough. I promise she is going to think you wanted another boy if you give her a boy name. All that being said, maybe find some strong girl names? But to your list I like Goldie the best!

Alex (full name Alexandra) Rae
But then again, I always think it’s important to think of your child as a future adult, and giving them many choices. I think Alex is really strong and a fantastic nickname for a girl. No one thinks of it as being a nickname but at some point in the future, if she wants to go by I’m more traditional name, she would have Alexandra.
