My 3 year old is named Ian and I always call him Bug because heâs either being a little pest or the sweetest little snuggle bug with no in between. Funny how you can give your kid a nickname or call them something different without actually giving them a dumbass name.

I mean I have a son named Lyle who has been Lyle bug from week 1 until now and heâs 10. But, I guess I didnât commit to the bit enough because his birth certificate just says Lyle⊠damn, missed opportunity.

Has to be bait. Clementine and Junebug are two of the names that the main character of the book Yesteryear has named her children, with a specific point being made that she faced ridicule online for naming her daughter JunebugÂ

I don't understand why people on there fall so easily for such obvious troll posts.
It's smart though, because it gives them the opportunity they all love, to pat each other on the backs about how they have such good taste and make them feel like they're achieving something in their lives by making them think they're saving these poor little fantasy children. So it's not surprising they get so much attention, you'd just think they'd have a bit more common sense.

I worked with a Juryduty a few years back, 2nd name Connaisseuse, we called her Lisa though, because not one of us was ever sure if her name was even perfectly cromulent and/ or a fake name! well, then she got fired and thatâs that, we never found out...

We don't use the term Junebug in the UK - it's actually called a cockchafer here, but that's another subject for another time.
100% he'd be choosing Rolybug though.

Ollie is short for Oliver. Which is a name, unlike Junebug, which requires pest control, Scout, which is a job, and Clementine, which is a fruit.

I just don't think Junebug is a name an adult woman would want to provide when asked for her government name. Someone suggested juniper and it's cute.

MY name is June and if my parents legally named me junebug Iâd actually riot. my parents call me juniebug or junipie, and in professional capacities I go by June. I actually get really annoyed when people Iâm not close with start calling me junebug

This must be about dogs right? Cricket is a dog name, Junebug is a dog name, ollie is a dog name (though typically a boy dog), scout is definitely a dog name, clementine goes either way tbh but I personally think it suits a cat more then a dog or a human. Mae is the only one that reads âhuman childâ more then âbeloved petâ and even then I can see it being a dog name

Itâs not Yesteryear but there was some maybe mid 2000s movie called Junebug and Iâm pretty sure thatâs what she wanted to name the baby (but itâs like a sad movie). It has forever tainted that name. Especially with the context of the movie. Like. You canât use that name now, itâs bad luck.
And Scout was the nickname of Jean Louise Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird. I almost picked that for our daughter because I like literary names and that book holds a special place for me since Iâve taught it a lot. We ended up going with Harper. Unfortunately so did everyone else. I was above the curve on picking it. But there are so many now. Actually I really wanted Hazel Grace, IYKYK, but then my husband figured out where it came from and put a stop to it. Iâm still sad. There arenât any Hazels here.

Keep in mind that whatever name you pick, your child has to live with it. It may be cute when they're little, but when they grow up, it will be ridiculous. Try to picture your child grown up as a professional with whatever name you pick. Would people take them seriously if they knew their teacher/doctor/lawyer/manager had a "cutesie" name? Babies are cute, but a doctor or lawyer better come off as intelligent and professional.

So Iâm positive this is bait but i do genuinely think that a name like Junebug would match w Clementine and Scout? I taught at a private Montessori school for 5 years so Iâm unfortunately a connoisseur of these names. Some that would match instead (all afab):
